Okay I just got mass effect and I love it (I know its a little older but I got to say I'm liking more then Fallout 3 or even Fable 2)

But I can not stand the driving, I have not meet one person who has played this game that liked the driving,

Its not like the rest of the combat where if you suck you can lvl you way out or just attriton it with health packs, you can't heal in combat with truck like you can in battle and there are no upgrades or anything

And Its reminding me that their are so many games that are amazing but just have the awful sections that take it down a point on my scale

KOTOR- Going between planets and having to have a dog fight awesome the first time "dude its just like the movie" but not awesome when I get killed 8 times when I'm trying to get to the ending of one of the greatest games ive ever played

Sly Cooper any mission that did not involve the awesome stealth/platforming (racing, shooting, and god forbid the digital turtle game that was THE hardest level in the game)

Megaman X-Always had to save the jet ski level for last

Kingdom Hearts- Though mildly improved in 2 still boring and unnecessary

It dosen't matter that Ive honed my skills and Ive perfected combat and gotten all the awesome moves, nope, I have to do an insanely difficult badly designed game  to advance to more of the fun stuff.

If I want a driving game I will buy a damn driving game, If I want a shooter I will buy a shooter

Mass effect is going to be a trilogy (I know 2 was announced can't wait) but I hope that if they do nothing else they ELIMINATE the Mako, don't try to pull a kingdom hearts and see if you can make it better or make it less frequently ELIMINATE IT.

The ONLY time I have seen a game done a driving section right has been Final Fantasy 7, Driving sequences in non driving games are meant to be like that easy at most and only used once or sparingly just to invoke a moment of badassitude, The Motorcycle fight in FF7 is definitely on my top 5 moments Ive ever had in gaming.

I'm more pissed off at the inclusion of a stealth mini-games, that's done way more than any crappy driving section.

removing the color red from the palette

I didn't like the driving but I didn't hate it and lets face it you'd be a little lol if a moon rover drove like a ferrari instead. POWERSLIDE OVER THE MOUNTAINS!

I think fishing pishes me off more. The whole point of fishing is it's meant to be a relaxing/social thing - there's nothing fun about it whatsoever in a game.

Fishing is okay as long as it's optional and the player isn't forced to do it. I actually liked the inclusion of the mini game in in Breath of Fire IV.

Yeah driving sections can be annoying but I didn't mind the Mako much, honestly!

Much worse I think are TURRET SECTIONS. I hate turrets. The worst parts of Gears of War (and 1 actually) were the bits where you're stuck on rails, or stuck stationary while you have to shoot at shit with a turret. Dead Space also has a very annoying turret bit. It's just so awful and unnecessary, I think devs do it for the sake of "variety".

But DRIVING BITS are a close second. I know this will sound ridiculous, given a BIG PART of the game is driving-based, but the chase levels in Grand Theft Auto IV (or just about ANY GTA actually) are annoying as hell sometimes, and often the most frustrating levels in the game.

It wouldn't be so bad if the cpu didn't abuse the perfect steering bullshit. They maintain top speed while making ridiculously sharp turns and maneuvers.

So you only like driving games where the controls are left/right and attack? Chocobo Racing in that game had more skill!

The only time I really enjoyed a turrety/driving bit in a game was MGS3 on the back of the bike, as it still felt like the same game. The problem with most of these minigames is the fact that they feel like a completely new, unrelated game... I'd rather trek miles in the snow in Mass Effect than drive through it in about 2 minutes, just jet boosting over enemy outposts.

And the tron/light cycle level in Spot Goes To Hollywood was the worst thing ever.

At least a driving part usually takes some skill and has SOME sort of fun. I'm sick of this button sequence bullshit. It's always a chore, it's never exciting, and it's just a lazy cop out for developers to try to add "depth" to whatever the hell they're adding it to.
