Can someone name me some movies that have no music, or certain scenes with no music, which conventionally would

To name a few myself,

No country for old men
Alien
The Birds
Before Sunrise/sunset
Escape from Alcatraz

Know of any others?

I can't think of specific ones but this is one of the rules in Dogme 95 so I guess you could look into those films.

Music must not be used unless it occurs within the scene being filmed, i.e., diegetic

i was pretty sure i heard a little bit of score in no country for old men here and there. i mean there wasn't loads, definitely not, but maybe i just misread a couple of sound effects as musical notes but i dunno

It doesn't matter if they have some music in it. Basically I just want some scenes from movies that purposely don't have any music where they might typically have some

No Country for Old Men had absolutely no music until the credits.  That was awesome.

I remember Cast Away having no music at all during the guy's time on the island, but there was music through the other parts.

yeah, I'm putting together a showreel

I've realised that Alien has got quite a lot of music in it, so I can't use that.

I am going to try Castaway. There are some good scenes in it as I remember.

I need more though!

I think The Straight Story had no music but at the same time it might've had WILLIE NELSON strumming away it's been so long I can't remember but it seemed like the kind of movie that would be silent

also try movies about deaf people

i'm kind of used to watching stuff with no or very little music now. like if there is a lot of score in a film i just find it kind of obnoxious. it's pretty dumb to use a lot of music in a film anyway. i mean it can enhance the emotions you feel i guess but it is pretty manipulative.

For obvious reasons, Cloverfield doesn't have any music until the credits.

Alien

Someone always beats me to mentioning this movie for just about any good reason.

Anyway, there's a scene in Dante's Peak where someone's escaping from a tunnel that's collapsing. No music. In one interview for some weird documentary we had to watch in college the editor of that particular film mused that the actual sound effects added way better tension than music could have done.

Yeah so SpoonyBard eventually did a new Final Fallacy game.

Just rewatched festen (the first Dogme film) today... It's considerably emotional and compelling, especially considering the lack of music.

Almost as boring as your consistantly negative and sarcastic posts, dom.

ON TOPIC: I've heard The China Syndrome has no soundtrack and is quite good.
Also, similarly to Cloverfield, I (think) The Blair Witch Project has no music.
