Well, this certainly brought me back here. It looks like the site/community as a whole has turned over a new leaf, at least, compared to last time I was here (like, 3 years ago).

Remember, fellow programmers: it makes no difference if you have the greatest graphics or the most thought-provoking storyline. Heck, it doesn't even matter if people are intrigued enough to play your game or not (chances tend to slide towards the latter). What matters is that you find entertainment and joy in creating something that few people are capable of.

we are in the process of making some key additions in the next few days, one of them being better forum and site integration. we are a bit SLOW doing these things, but rest assured we are still hard at work to get the site running again. we'll keep you all posted on the recent developments and the future of the site as soon as we have presentable information.

Hey guys, not sure if it's been brought up yet but I found a kind of bug, I guess? If you click on the name of Carius' article on the front page atm (it's an interview with hima), it goes to a page with this:

i changed something very late last night and it caused this bug. thanks for pointing this out, i just fixed it.

Regarding the "real name" thing, it seems that the name in the article is what the user's real name was at the time of posting.

Here is an article by BM from March, the username says BunnyMilk. And here is an article from July, after BM had changed his username to scubacoaster; his username is scubacoaster in this one.

So I guess if for example Steel posted an article now it would say Magical Negro instead of dangerousned.

Great job for getting the site up of course!

about the NAME THING, this is because i don't check the actual member name (it would take another query to do this). there is a value that goes with each topic called "postedBy" (i think it's called that, this is what i remember right now) so it uses whatever the persons name was at the time they posted. eventually i am going to solve this by changing those values with a script but this is near the bottom of my priority list.

gz what if you stored the member id instead of their username? its not an extra query, just a join to get their current username.
