thaaaat's the idea!

Ooooh! I thought you were just going to tweak the DBS! But you're saying you're going to script it (or whatever, I use the words script and code interchangeably) in Rm2k3? That will be a feat. I am looking forward to it now!

@Killer Wolf : Looks pretty good, but I don't think you should use pure black as outline. It makes the charset too stand out imo. Make it dark grey or something (or you know, different colors based on the character's clothing. Ex. Dark grey for the hair, brown for the cape part, dark blue for the armband etc) Or just dark brown (since brown is dominant in your charset).

Screen:

A... Greenhouse (Should be white glasses, but I guess green is a-ok too, considering the name. Heh) .Can't seem to find good image of it (at least when I made the sprite. Left is the current/final version; right is the old version. It's gonna be tough making/finding chips for the inner part of the building  :welp:

Also, maybe I should start a devlog or something; feels like I am hijacking the thread with... minor updates.

i like the old one better, but maybe it looks off when you actually put it in the map
Can creativity be consistent?

I like the old one more too. Also, can you make it one pixel wider so the doors can be equal widths? Something wonky about the reflective glass on the greenhouse too... I'm trying to think of how else you could illustrate that. But I can't. So I'll just be unhelpful. Your world map chipset is looking just gr8. Probably the best "modern/futuristic" one I've seen yet.

The old one is indeed better. The new one appears to have floors, and if a greenhouse has floors, wouldn't the bottom floors get no sun?

Yeah, I'll have to agree with those who said that the first one was the better one. The design may have looked more simple, but it seemed to...match. The second one looks good, but sort of odd.

Oi. And I has one more thing relating to Dragon Fantasy II. It's a 14~ second clip showing the new Final Boss death Sequence I whipped up this evening. I wanted to add some more life to the battle, so I shoved this in there.

I may just be used to the crumbling boss animations from Final Fantasy 4-6, but the one you have seems to go by too quickly.

@Killer Wolf: I actually really like it with a black outline, but sleeping wind has a bit of a point; black might be a little too harsh. I might use a very deep shade of red, since that seems to be the predominant colour in him. One other thing I'd suggest is that if you use a deep shade for the outside border, make sure you trim some details within the char itself. You can add depth (lots of it) with a single line of black or something dark. I might try shading the inside of the arms, but play around and see what looks best. Just make to keep in mind that the external border should reflect internal borders. Don't separate everything with black lines, but don't exclude it from detailing, either.

@Sleeping wind: This is shaping up to be one great chip! I don't understand the ashphalt in between the sidewalk and the grass, though. It kind of breaks the effect, like one big mapping error or something.

Well, it's just... too futuristic I guess. Maybe it's just me associating huge domes with some kind of space station where people live in. :shrug:Imagination

I am not sure how you define equal, but this one here is pretty "equal" (although you can't put one pixel in the middle to divide it in two - which I guess it what you meant). I will probably make the thing bigger though, so we'll see about that (or find other ways to make the doors).

Also yeah, the reflection thing is off to me too! However, I can't find any way around it either, so I will just leave it as it is :\
It's worse when I try to shade the dome haha.

Also thanks dude.

Actually, it's not just once chip, but 4 (the other 3 are variants/edits though) - each for different area since the chipset is limited.

The ashphalt well... I am really at loss about it as well. It's suppose to be a small road/space where people can walk/sit around in front of the building (I mix the grass because this is a greenhouse haha). This problem always gets to me even for the different areas. I am just not sure what I can put there instead of ashphalt everywhere (any idea will be appreciated).

I guess I need to google more pictures of city area  :hmm:

EDIT
Whoops top of the page and no screenshots. Dang.

Well played GW.

Here's a new video from my ABS. I made an ally person that helps you fight. Still very basic, but working.

Oh lordy. Forgot my actual response! Ha ha. Well, the font is for all to use! I posted the link to it in a comment in one of my following videos. It's the same font I used for Dragon Fantasy II.

EDIT: Oop. Looks like it didn't show up. Anywhoo, here's the font for those who want it:

Hrm, it appears that the link is dead.

I'd like to get ahold of that font myself. The standard Rm2k3 font is... really lame.

Neato guys!

Btw @Ness - is that some megaman remix?

=================
Out of curiosity, how large is the video file usually after recording?(1 or 2 minutes).

Also fraps or camtasia?

B.I.G. & Nessiah both of those battle systems look to be shaping up nicely.

Sleeping_Wind - I use FRAPS. I just did a little test - a 23 second capture of an RM2k3 game took up 34.3Mb. But, using Windows Movie maker, I saved it and cut the size down to 1.3mb. File sizes are usually pretty manageable.

@Nessiah: That battle system reminded me a little of Crisis Core for some reason...
