Decided to step back into the Rm2k3 for now, and put in a fair days work...
Returned to the Swamp of the Lost to remap (still WIP on the inner map)
This in comparison to the old 2007 release design...

Along with this bit of work, I've managed to finish the "Mysterious Swamps" dungeon
and formed the teleport link between said swamps and the Training Ground. I figured
a small cave with the typical teleport crystal would work better than a direct teleport
to the world map.
Thus giving me an opportunity to step away from the 2007 design even further with this..

How this island works is that it is inaccessible by water or by air and the only way to get
there would be through the Mysterious Swamps (I'd change that name but I've already
made display name logos for all areas).

@Bunsen.05:  My only suggestion to give a stronger computer look is to put horizontal lines across the facesets.  In a slightly lighter translucent green would give a nice screen effect.  Hopefully you know what I'm talking about.  I was trying to find a reference picture, but I had no luck.

When making those ones, I did add the msg box into it but only at 40%, there are scanlines in it but not so clear when in a screenshot, they are much more apparent in game, but I may try 50%.

Bandito, Kentona, sleeping_wind, cray: Kewl screens

Cray's thing really does look like Breath of Fire which I think would be a hard style to pull off, honestly it looks better in some ways

Bunsen: I thought I'd hate those kind of colors etc. for a system set but that's pulled off pretty well, does a pretty good job not looking immediately like RTP

Eschatologist: chipset itself is kind of boring but yes the shading on that is really cool, feels like it'd go with the RTP or something, the future screen is like more intriguing but I don't like the shading style as much, feels like photonegative or inside-out or something

Warlin: I'm a sucker for pastel/whatever colors like that

King Tetris: Some story type-screens would be good, town seems kind of crowded like you'd be under roofs all the time

bi0hazard: Did you like, draw that whale, in that case awesome, look forward to blowing up zombie whales with grenade launchers or something

Trash Head 2: finish your rpg damnit :( although platformer looks good the BLOCKS are very well drawn drawing blocks is a very fine and subtle art

King of Games: That drawing of the dude has such a feel to it, reminds me of the digitized sprites of people from NARC/that Star Wars game with Obi Wan that I've only ever seen on the internet

Oh were talking about that sketch a few pages ago? I have a new version of it after several critiques.

Not sure if I should call it finished or not.

Also, dunno how I missed cray + calunio. I really love both you guys's shots.

working on a platform adventure game... or something.



i know the character sprite completely clashes but right now i have NO IDEA how i'm going to make consistent sprites.  probably will have to draw and paint all of their frames at full size then shrink them down (kind of like how the sprites in RMVX look).

No new screens yet, trying to think of different weapons to sell the player in the God's Style store I'm setting up.

I finally got something for you guys, to see what I've been up to.
I really got into graphic work early December - usually I'm interested in just coding.
So this is what came out of it - I was living near a city for a bit, which inspired me making a city chipset.
Take a look at the resource section for a bit of my graphic work, designing robots, miniature people, cities. (will be up soon)

Here's something that required and still requires heavy duty coding,



Its a chess game, I wanted there to be pictures of two old men staring at each other left and right of the screen,
but that has come about.  I was inspired when I played a game of chess with my friend's grandfather, I beat him twice   :fogetnaughty:
I wanted to dissect the game, to see all the strategies that a person could come up with - which is determined basically by the movements
of each piece - which simultaneously determines which squares the piece defends and which squares the piece can attack.  If see all of that,
and consider the value of each piece there shouldn't be any reason for you to lose.  I wanted there to be a strong AI for both sides, so I could
just set back and watch my creation dance around each other - but another project came to mind.  Which I will show another day.

In the screenshot, I worked it out so that all the movements are mapped.  You can get from the picture that all highlighted, pieces, are defended.
And do you notice which pieces are not defended.  I never knew that before and I think that's interesting for some reason.  I know the screenshot is not much, but I think the project is going to die, I just want to play chess now.

Come on, man... I know Shadar's face picture was just a shabby color swap and paintbrush job but... Please? Can you maybe find another face picture? If I'm not mistaken there was a refmap version made for that exact sprite... Also, try panning the panorama so the airships actually look like they're moving.

Paperghost, those set pieces could really use some contrast.

Marcus that is the coolest thing i've seen in a while. Really, I don't think the charset clashes THAT bad at all. In fact, its quite easy on the eyes -especially compared to most games with hand drawn backgrounds. I would love to see more of your levels, that shit is lookin FINE

All decent games will have something stripped from them, its the way of the rm2k/3 community.  If I mentioned every time something was ripped off of my game, I'd have double the post count.
