As far as I'm aware, posting this isn't a contravention of the rules:

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://forum.rpg2000.4players.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php%3Ff%3D15%26t%3D88210&ei=_v2RSbypLJmzjAfUgNW1Cg&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=2&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DAEP%2BPatch%2BRM2K3%26hl%3Den

A brief Google search led me to the page above. The patch in question, as Nackster states, is the BetterAEP Patch. When the Variable 3350 is set to 1 and the 'End Event Processing' command is executed, the Load Game screen is called. If the aforementioned variable is set to 2, and again the command is executed, the game shuts-down.

A very nice find indeed, Nackster. I shall certainly be making use of this.
I was looking for this today dude, nice find and thank you. Also thank you nackster for telling everyone of the existence of this patch.

@Jimpo
Welcome! I've noticed FPS : 170 in your screenshot. Is that an ABS? If so, that's really impressive! :)

Remaking my ruby shmup into C/C++.  Now I can have a steady 60 FPS even with 2000 bulets. Yayh!

Big T: So you're using the default settings for that battle system without changing it at all?

I finally convinced myself to make the HUD.

I have to say that is some seriously impressive battle music. I happen to have a lot of music that fits that theme, so if you want access to more, just PM me or something.

That looks p crazy man. Like idk what world you are trying to depcit or what maker its in or what, but it looks somewhat convoluted. The lines and textures are very messy and looks like it would be difficult to traverse in game. I mean I know it's a mock up but mock ups are done for concievability or feasibility.  Idk gotta find a way to make it organized, so it's nice and clear, the player knows where he can and cannot go etc. You've come a long way though.

4 Directional tile based movement does not make for a compelling game experience. Right now, with simplistic enemies it may seem adequate; but as the game progresses you will find that it is exceedingly difficult to add any kind of interesting enemy or boss characters.

Oh my dear NB... prepare to be proved so VERY wrong.I have some bosses planned that are going to BLOW your MIND.
Each individual enemy character takes approx 8-9 events. Its all about the imagination, of which I have plenty.  :)

@Sanosuke: It's like Mech Assault done in AGS :)

@the_nackster: Ah excellent! Maybe you can instruct me on multiple-part bosses..

I think the bg doesn't fit with the rest of this Mecha (I take it's Mecha because there's one in upper left, you have map up at over right, cross chair at center, and guns at sides) setting; you should make actual 3 D of those even if they'd be the quality of original Battlefield, it'd not look as out of place as these painted on backgrounds.

The guns look kind of neat actually, are they animated as in the barrels will roll when you  fire? If so, then that's awesome.

EDIT: Top of the pages folks!

He's at it again *curls down shivering*...

But in all seriousness, the desert town of Caldinasus has seen some serious improvements today. From imagination, to paper, to game in roughly an hour... I can't help but feel it's becoming slightly more playable/enjoyable since its debut in 2007.

The inside maps and the cross roads leading north to the Arena and south to the Item shop, along with the northeastern map leading to Yilphruk's house are all still WIP, but the main town is complete. I decided to cut out the extra events that disallow you from going behind too much of the roofs and above the ladder strictly for screenshot purposes.

Also you may have noticed that the wall to the southwest isn't finished, this is intentional. As it would be, the workers are waiting for the next shipment of bricks and mortar to continue the construction of the wall around Caldinasus. You may think that this is just a place to throw in a seemingly pointless quest, but the overseer is too full of himself to accept assistance in finding out where the next shipment is and when it will arrive. Using a few switches and events, in-game after entering the town you can walk along the base of the wall while having access to all the tiles around it. Once you climb to the top of the ladder, the switches change and you can walk to the ends of the wall that would normally be closed off to sort of give a grasp of elevation.

EDIT: The Pub roof has been fixed, but due to my laziness I can't be bothered to make another screenshot... same goes for the northeastern wall around the government house.

Been finishing up the first dream sequence. All I need to do now is get the last events done and make the battles, then it's time for Beta 2.

@Corfaisus: The new map looks great. It's always good to see a good use of RTP.

Making Tifa's 3 D model isn't easy. She look anything at all like her origin? (FF 7, not Advent Children) :hmm:
