(Compared to an image of Cerebro)

Wouldn't the blackness be on the inside, with the blue tile showing up outside? it looks like it'd backwards.

Sano, the first one is way better, the second one is way too convoluted. What are those orange lines in the middle? You gotta keep it simple man, don't go too crazy.

@Reives: Thanks man I thought I'd mix up the atmospher a bit.
@KOG: I know simple is better, I was aiming for a night time feel for the second one.

Btw, here is one from Epic of Zoon. ~Fire pillar

By reading the text in your latest project, it looks like your dialog's improved Yeaster! Not that it was bad before of course.

Thanks dude. I'm trying to be more mindful of how real people would talk given if they were placed in a particular situation. I read every line out loud over and over to make sure it sounds right.

Dummmm.........

I was wondering if it's really necessary to have.... a video of the default battle system. Like, did you code something amazing in it? or is it like "see my 3d dinosaurs lulz"?

Not taking a jab or anything, just asking since, you know, we all played the DBS a million times already.

chiptotal chiptotal chiptotal

Anyway, a question for Sanosuke. What are you going to use those 3D renders on? Not rm2k3 I hope! Are you using a custom engine? Or maybe RMXP? Looks radical nonetheless!

@Jude
Wow, these are the coolest screens of the entire topic man. I'm a big fan of old school graphics, and all your resources seem to match really good. Good work, I'm so looking forward to this game.

It's typically done to gauge how people will respond to the chosen graphics, music, etc. Isn't that easy to understand?

Random image from an Untitled, DnD Style, side project. 8 Party battles, and you'll need them because monsters will hit hard, as poor Eltrian found out. Still trying to work out how I want the hud in battles, thinking of trying a vertical bar style with Status to the side of them, just so i can fit all 8 character stats onto teh screen at once.

EDIT: Screw the above, the HUD is fine, I'm thinking of changing the way damage is presented, for example a text box that shows over the hud, like in the normal battlesystem, but with the bars updating aswell.

That's because its fundamental layout is strong, which is the most important part anyway.  Anybody can smother a map in rocks and doodads and then overlay some fog.

Also, some WIPs:

Ha, 10 years later and you're still making games about vampires! They look awesome though, especially the battle screen.  What engine are you using?
  • Yes, I drew it myself. No, I'm not a great artist.

@UPRC: 1 and 2 damage per attack? My 9999 mind can't take it!! But no, I actually like that idea. However the FFT-esque battle characters seemed odd in that positioning...Maybe it's just me.

@CociCookie: 8 party members? Seems interesting... :fogetmmh: And DnD-style?

Yeah, I know. It's something that I'd like to fix if I could.. But it's hard to position them properly or to find monsters that fit their perspective.
