Oh, I love the slo mo! What's with that splash of blood that flies in your direction though? A glitch, perhaps?

That slow mode reminds me a lot of max payne! Is that where you got the inspiration from? :)
Also that is a weird glitch with the blood thing

The opponent has a special attack/projectile I haven't done the artwork for yet, so right now he just chucks out a red ball. As for his short bus style behavior, I've tried some different things, I just wasn't happy with the results yet. Also, since it is the first section of the game (the title screen fades into the player walking up at the start of the scene) I wanted a more "frantic" feeling as opposed to a more tactical one. The game is planned out as a "normal" rpg, but certain events and boss battles would play out in real time rather than turn based.

The slow-motion effect comes partially from Max Payne, but it also stems from fond memories of when I first played the demo of this.

@Killer Wolf: That is awesome, I especially like the blood splatters on the wall and the slow motion effect. Makes a really good minigame.

Nice slo-mo effect, it's slow down even the bullets.)

BTW, slo-mo also was in Conker's Bad Fur Day.

@Corfaisus: Just wondering, why isn't there a DoaDV devlog yet? That project is really interesting, and that post in particular is really suited for a devlog.

Stuff for At The End Of The Universe. I expect episode 1 to be out around june/julyish I guess, I still have a lot to do before I can get things going at a steady pace.

I dont even know. I was kinda taking a break from Dreamer cause of that whole RSD shittery a while back. I took one night to get a demo out, and in the end it nearly failed and I got pretty sick of the damn game.

Although with so much positive feedback I'll look at fixing it up and picking it back up. I need to get things straight. I think my main problem was development time, what with custom music and graphics and all, it takes forever to get things done, though I have a fix, I'll just get some of the songs done as custom, and keep the rest as Mother 3. Also I'll look at getting artwork done for it, but I have no promises with getting that worked out.

OBI: I'm working on a new project called "A Syzygial Pilgrimage to the Centre of the Universe" (Lennon and I evidently seem to be on the same wavelength as far as RPG titles go) which is going to BLOW YOU AWAY my friend.

Actually, I've taken to Lennon and swordofkings666 or w/e's NES-but-better spriting so much that I might use that style for my new game in an effort to not overwhelm myself with time-consuming resource creation.

Most of the conceptual work is done, and I've "hired" my friend as the musical director, so I shouldn't be TOO overwhelmed.

if you actually intend to name your project that then I'd love to know what a Syzygial is.

Looking it up on Dictionary.com, it's essentially when the sun, moon, and Earth align.

My game is basically trying to illustrate the concepts of "Gnosticism" and setting it in space, just for kicks.  In Gnosticism there are 32 (iirc) spiritual bodies that embody certain virtues/concepts (like "Mind" or "Word") and each of these spiritual bodies come in pairs. One man and one woman. These are called "syzygies". Jesus ("The Willed For One") and Sophia ("Wisdom") are two syzygies and are also the protagonists of the game. The idea behind this connotation of syzygy is that, while these two operate independently from each other, they move synchronistically (hmm, turns out that isn't a word) toward the same goal. I think being syzygies is actually a sweet alternative to marriage. You maintain your independence and function, still striving for the same goal, but without homogenizing with your spouse. Excellent...

(and yeah I'm changing Jesus' name)

Now, because this is a screenshot thread and I'm going to get in trouble over talking about my new game, here are some iconic-looking screenshots from MY "Dreamer" that I don't think I posted before:

uggh I miss working on this game. Why did I ditch it? I think I was just busy or something. It will always be ~ in my heart ~

Haha, I don't think that you can compare Dreamer to the game thats always in my heart, if thats what you're attempting to do. The game that is always with me is Neo Lescia, as it was the first game I ever thought of making (At age 6) and it embodies my stance on gamemaking (The mysteries of the world).

That first screen is looking real nice though.
