Not mine at all, I just draw for them :D

Lol.

So, working on the CBS:

Targeting.  Transparent targets show the "acceptable" targets.

Darkened the unusuable skills more.  Finished all the battle menus and compressed them into one event that'll handle skills, magics, and items of all characters~!

I also bought a new monitor today so I can clearly see all the visibility issues.  Like, wao.

@Jaffer

I really like how your project is going so far, I like a minimalist look myself, so I really dig your menus and stuff. One thing that I think would help with visibility/readability is if you used just a select few colors in your text. Like usable skills could be in a green, yellow, orange text maybe so they really pop out. Also in your menu, you could color the names of stats the same color like yellow and have the number value in white.

I think it'd really help your eyes find what they're looking for a lot faster. I can try to post my own recoloring to save you some effort so you can quickly glance and see what you think.

Awesome job, though. If I could sprite, I would help you but I'm using RTP in my own project(s) so...

Recoloring the numbers is easy, since it's displayed on a loop, and I can easily adjust all the colors swiftly.  The text for the backing is appended to the menu pictures itself though, so I'd have to adjust each picture individually.  Which I'm sure wouldn't be bad, just significantly more time consuming.  I think I've got someone to help me, trading off coding work for sprites to her.  So I may be well off!

So finally some SCREENIES!!  And I mean real screenshots not just mock-ups
Could you make the Cheshire Cat look more like a (freaky) cat and less like your average anthro? Making him look that way really takes what made the Cheshire cat an interesting character and ruins it. To a point where I don't think I'd be able to tolerate playing it. I just think you could put more imagination into it, is all. Right now, he looks very uncreative and cookie cutter.
If you change anything about that game, that would be the one thing I would change.

Thank you for your comment! It's too bad that you think he looks uncreative and cookie cutter, but I believe making him a cat would be just like other Alice in Wonderland interpretations and wouldn't stand out from the crowd.  If you look at all the other characters here , you'll see that all characters are loosely based on Alice in Wonderland and all the talking animals are anthros.

Not to say that your comment isn't valid. I know what you mean, and I understand your point. However, I prefer it to be like this and even though some may not like it, there are those who like it as well.  Also, the time it will take for another design as well as creating a new graphic assets for the character would be too much and I'd rather spend that time making other games.

I'm sorry if this make you don't want to play the game, but I have no intention to change the design. We'll try better next game :)

Maybe something similar to this...

Jaffer, it would also help if you use different color for the stats on the right side of the arrows. Something like, green for a number that is increased, red for a number that is decreased, and white for a number that stays the same.

It's hard to read period at since it's so small.  I'll video it later and see the result.

I think it is already much improved. It's a lot faster and easier to tell what's improved with the item you're looking at :)

Added a death counter in the background of every level. Is it easy to see? Does it distract too much from the level?

the background counter is a Cool Aesthetic Decision and I dig it. It doesn't draw attention unless you are trying to look at it, and if I can see it on my dark, 7-year-old crt monitor, probably anyone can.

was trying to copy the shit out of Plok for the background, homelessperson added for scale

I feel like a dildo for posting a graphical mockup with no code behind it at all, but w/e this took me 3 afternoons and I wanted to show off. Construct has literally no support for tilesets though, so I have to build a level editor from scratch before I can do anything fun with it. Balls!!

@bick
It took me a little while to find it haha. I saw the 'F' and then the little icon in the bottom right. Then finally noticed it! I agree that it is a cool aesthetic design choice and also functional. I'd keep it that way.

@Trash Head 2

I like it! The coloring is well done and the design is good. Also, the little homeless guy looks awesome lol.
