Cave

I was kinda bored, I wanted to work with your cave. This is sorta how I envision it...

It is a bit rough, but feel free to use it.

It's an overlay done in photoshop; looks nicer, but it's about a million times more complicated to use. You'd have to do it as a panorama, and then use pictures for any 2nd/3rd layer objects and... yeah. Worth the effort usually!

Welcome to the hidden door in my mind. Unfortunately, there's no key.

And then I became a barber.

That looks amazing, are you going for a grandia-esque battle system?

It's like...an action battle system that allows you to control 4 characters at the same time. They have 3 basic "formations" and you can do the Principal Intervention to cast skills to support them. It's almost done so I'll let the game explain more about it :D

@Brown: lol yeah I noticed that.
@Nessiah: That looks pretty slick, actually looks like a gba game.

@IceManual: I just finished making a tutorial to help those interested in how to improve their maps just like how I "improved" your cave map. http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=81074.0 Check it out. I hope it helps you guys.

Damn, top of the page. Well I might as well show what the tutorial offers. Basically it shows how to turn your maps from this to this:

@ Nessy - Nessy my dear, remember the agreement! You must finish at least one of these awesome, epic, games by the end of this year! If you do not, I WILL OWN YOUR SOUL!!!

And your body and mind if I manage to finish Sugar before you finish something.  :fogetshifty:

@ MISTER BIG T - *sniff* your work, just inspires me to become a better lover.  :naughty:

@ Sano - And how could I forget Sano!? I love your work to edit that map; it looks brilliant! I also got a whiff of your tutorial online as well, because I might be needing to learn some of this stuff for the future.

Good stuff everyone!  :fogetgasp:

Haha we'll see @_@;;
Well, it IS a complete game that has missing files and buggy code so I'm fixing and prettifying it for now. But it's like working on a new project at this rate >:V

Finished the character selection screen:

I've enjoyed seeing your Megaman-based game screenshots, Mr Weird Guy.

And thanks for letting us know about the coming about the tenth installment in the original series. Never knew that.

@Nessiah: I don't remember, but how much games do you have or working on? There were all nice eye-candies.

Don't think there's anything like that in there, sorry, but in case you are doing 2 sprites for each animation (like walking left and walking right) then I suggest centering the x origin on the sprites and rotating them using image_xscale = 1 (-1 = reversed). That way you only need 1 sprite for each action, it saves a lot of time and headache.

But if you aren't doing this from the get go it can be really painful to go around changing the x origin of each sprite and then evaluating the effects that has to the gameplay (collisions especially).
