First, allow me to list my basic system specs.

3.0g Dual Core Processor
4g of Ram
8800GT video card
Windows XP

I'm considering getting a 22" monitor; but I'd like a little information,

Debating between this one (that I have a promo code for)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009998&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL010809&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL010809-_-Monitors-_-L2C-_-24009998

or this one (which is 10 dollars more w/o promo code; but has a customer choice award)

I'm not sure which one to choose, but that's not all. Can my computer hope to run games at max resolution? My Graphics card is kind of dated at this point, being a mere 8800 gt and all. Also, could this system support dual display without big issue? The games I play include Left 4 dead, TF2, and so on; but I'd like to know if I could handle more graphically intense games with this new setup, like maybe CoD4 which I play on rare occasion... Also, if either of these monitors is poor for gaming; that would be great to know too.

The dual display is something Im not going to be using for gaming, but rather - multitasking. Having a screen on the side for messages / photoshop or what have you will be profoundly useful, and a given being that my current 19 inch is still okay for the most part.

The monitors are basically the same except for the response time which may/may not be important for gaming. I'm not sure if it's all that noticeable, but some would argue it is. I know someone with the 5ms one and he likes it, no problems at all.

As for running games at max resolution that's almost completely dependent upon your GPU as most modern monitors will support fairly high resolutions. I have an 8800GT and don't underestimate them so much, they are fine cards and should run CoD4 just fine. I don't know that much about multidisplays, but I don't see any obvious conflicts here.

Thank you for your input; however I find another interesting little deal. (In a place that has free next day shipping no less)

Only two reviews however... And a seemingly low contrast ratio.

Just keep in mind that has a much lower contrast ratio than the Acers.

Ah you're right, I didn't even notice that until recently.

Oh, I have almost the exact same setup. I have one 8800GT running on a 22" Acer, and it's flawless. Every game you mentioned runs perfect at 1680x1050, and you can even set Anti Aliasing pretty high in the games you mentioned (4x, 8x). I've played Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 with that resolution with no dips in the FPS, so the 8800GT is far from dated. The jump from 19" to 22" isn't that large anyway, since the resolutions aren't drastically different. Acer monitors are pretty good, I've had mine for over a year now and there's nothing wrong with it. I would grab either one of those.

I have a 8800 GTS 320MB and that runs COD4 and Fallout 3 at 1920x1200 on my 24" screen so I think you'll be reet.

Bioshock looks good in that res too.

Forget Crysis or GTA4.

Again, thanks for the input.

I went ahead and got the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145&cm_sp=MyNewegg-_-TopSel-_-Pst01Image Thursday, being that Newegg is in NJ and I'm in NY, shipping was fairly quick (Ground = free). It arrived today and I don't regret the purchase. Everything runs flawlessly thus far.

Though upon installing this great monitor; I realize I dont have the desk space right now to have my 19" on the side...

Another great thing about getting a monitor upgrade is that making games is soooo much faster and streamlined. Makes RM mapping a breeze :D

You're right about that, left 4 dead looks amazing; and mapping this giant desert town Im making is made all the easier with the upgrade from 19" to 22"... Also, it's nice to have a monitor with a proper stand. (I'm upgraded from a samsung syncmaster 970p, and the stupid thing's stand is too weak to support the weight of the monitor, so I had to use a wedge a small black controller under it to keep it steady)

My monitor is samsung it has a balanced stand that goes up and down and a pin you can slot into it to keep it in place (like a rack of some kind). It still stays in the right place though if you take the pin out. Magic I guess. Maybe you're missing a pin>?

No, when I first got it those years ago, it stood upright for about a day. Oh well, ancient history.
