Okay so I bought this game a few days ago, and I've currently managed to get to the Dark elf this morning. However, after attempting TWICE to kill him before going back to Troia, going into the castle and getting the Whisperweed, I now have no idea on what to do with it. I'm not sure if I just go back to the Boss straight away or if I have to do anything else before hand, so could anyone give me a hint?

Also, which version of FF4 is this one based off? Is it Japanese Hard Type or the American Easy Type?

it's based on Hard Type, except they made it even harder.

Gamefaqs dude. http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/939425/51200

You went to the Dark Elf before going to Troia? You don't have to man. As soon as you get the Twinharp or Whisperweed or whatever Edward gives you after you find him in Troia, you go back to the boss. At first, you're meant to lose against him so just use regular attacks or w/e. Then you'll see a cutscene where Edward dispells the magnetic effect in the cave and the real fight begins. You can use metal weapons against the Dark Elf now too.
WHY SO SERIOUS HAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA

Thanks, and I sort of did, I only noticed Prince Edwrd was t Troia after fighting a couple of times.

However, they made it Harder O_o I don't see that AT ALL, yes, most of teh enemies can counter, and yes instant death attacks seem to be high priority, but the only other boss I've died against before Dark Elf was Mom Bomb, and that's 'cause I ecided to attack during the Countdown (Mwah, mwah mwaaaaaaaaah)

To be fair, in the old hard type all you'd have to do was a bit of grinding before you where able to button mash through most of the game. For this one you actually have to pay attention.

Probably might want to get mythril equipment if you haven't got it, but the prices for it are just INSANE.

8k for a Myth Hammer, 8k O_O I barely have 3k at the best of times. Looks like I need to stop running from battles =/

Ah well, all I really need is the armour, which is thankfully cheap. Too bad Mr Dark Elf is high and mighty against Magic -.- Firaga for 500+ damage, noty

You shouldn't really ever be running from battles in FF games, they're all about grinding.

Wow. I stopped playing this game because I couldn't remember he trick to the elf. I lost interest and started playing Disgaea at work instead. Looks like it'll be FF4 for me again tonight!

And yes I'm so lazy I didn't bother looking it up seeing how I've beaten FF4 many times since it's SNES days.

Finally gave the Dark Elf a good murdering. It took me a few tries, as I didn't know the bugger could be slowed (¬.¬) but I finally kicked it's butt, but it had somethign REALLY against Tellah (Hit Tellah, kill him. Revive Tellah, Kill him again) so now he's a lower level.

The Tower of Zot is getting to me now. I don't like those Ice Monsters, not enough Anti-Ice equipment ¬.¬

Hey, on the subject of this game, can anyone suggest who I give the Bardsong Augment to? I originally gave it to Tellah so I could use the sleep lullaby thing in the Tower of Zot (to get rid of those very same ice monsters). I lost my cartridge shortly after and I recently replaced it, and don't know who I should give the stupid Augment to this time around.

I've given it Cid, it requires no MP so I can let him use Life's Anthem, using Cecil's cover to stop physical damage screwing it up, and then lay into the enemy with everyone else.

Also, is there ANY way to find out Golbez's barrier? It took me till I had just rydia left to actually find out it's element... and now I have to beat those dolls again =[

But I can't wait to have Edward back, if it happens. 2x Life's Anthem? Fck yes!

Yeah, it was Libra. Now I've just got to hunt down the Tower of Babil, and maybe raise some cash for more stuff.

Also, which person thought it intelligent to make an augment that causes enemies to attack the owner. It's not got much use in my party as I usually end up with the battles over swiftly, Rydia's summons ftw!

That particular augment is one of the most useful in the game!  The difference in ability to soak damage between say . . . Rydia and Cecil is enormous.  If Cecil has that augment equipped, he can soak damage for the rest of the party.  You can even give him a long-range and counter augments, slot him in the back row, and place him on defend.  Strategies like this are essential to deal with the endgame, which is very challenging.

Only problem is, I accidently gave it Kain, and then saved -.- I wasn't going through the goddarn boss chain again, so i saved over my game. If I had known it's effects were automatic and not ability slected, I probably would have probably gave it to Cecil, seeing as his only toher use in the party atm is the randmly use Cura from time to time when need be, usually on Kain.

Too bad they didn't include a way for me to change the augments people have, I'd love to move that augment off Kain now.

I wonder how far back my other save is? hmm...
