so i got the first season of 30 rock for xmas. i had heard it was WAY FUNNIER THAN THE OFFICE etc but so far it's pretty mediocre!! does it get better or what? i really like tina fey (shes so..beautiful) and this show consistently wins best comedy but idk man so far it's really mediocre. i'm about 2/3 finished with the first season so should i check out the rest or what?

I've watched a few episodes and it's ok but yeah it's not as funny as a lot of people make it out to be

yeah i saw one episode where Tracy was wigging out on whatever new medicine he was taking and it was just dumb as hell.

I think part of the problem for me was that I was led to believe that it was really clever like arrested development but the few episodes I've seen were just NORMAL humor or whatever so it was kind of disappointing I guess

also if you dont think its clever you are missing parts of it!!! i don't explicitly remember the first season so well but the show is pretty clever, man.

if you hate 30 Rock you are a stupid motherfucker. it is better to love Israel than hate 30 Rock.

that being said the show establishes itself much better in season 2.

to be fair I've seen like two episodes. also I don't really care for the office at all so back off pal!!

no joke if this was the dark knight and i was on the boat witht he crew of the office and panda was on the boat with the crew of 30 rock and we had to blow one or the ohter up i would throw the remote out the window and text panda "d0 wats rite".

this gimmick being? heh liz lemon's a nerd//tracy's crazy//whatever else? i cannot think of a way in which 30 rock repeats the same gimmicks to nearly the extent of the office which is literally ONE GIMMICK continued over half a dozen seasons, however good you think it is. gonna need you to substantiate the claim that 30 rock is even on the same level as the office in terms of a lack of variation in content.

it's a 30 rock thread and you're talking about the office lol

the characters aren't even one-dimensional or anything, look at this season's christmas ep, but all of the character-based humor (big part of the show) is p much the same thing over and over again?? have you seen any of the episodes. this isn't a real criticism on my part but I'm wondering if you honestly never thought WOW THAT WAS FAMILIAR while still managing to passionately hate the Office and any plebian careless enough to insinuate 30 rock isn't aT LEAST 10x better.

I mean that's an exaggeration, that's not the WHOLE SHOW but you did the same thing with the Office (not gonna defend the office btw)

i don't hate the office. why would you even think that? i don't even know why you took that post seriously. it is just funny that he would list the office as the END ALL show to beat when the office is kinda shitty in a way

anyway, i think saying it's the same thing over and over again is an overstatement. it's a SITUATION COMEDY i guess and the situations they get into aren't really all that similar but the circumstances of the situation and the way they progress and are handled definitely are. i'm not sure how fair a criticism this is to make though since the characters are who they are. theres liz....actin like liz again.....gettin in liz-type situations. how else can you really expect it to be? you could argue that the setup of the show is perhaps somewhat formulaic due to how rigid the characters can be and how the plots always revolve around what wacky hijinx their rigid personalities get them into, but i do not think it's that bad, especially compared to the office.
