yea that part's obv not serious but the rest sounded serious. I dunno why you'd say that if you weren't being serious, unless you just were being a dick....

no but really I gotta hunt for dumb shit to TAKE ISSUE WITH its not that easy. but believe it or not the show can be pretty samey and you actually do have a Boner for liz lemons.

i was serious about the office being highly repetitive and kind of FALLING OFF in general and finding it funny that people still rave about it, but that was just a random observation his post reminded me of since it really did seem like he was saying funnier than even.... than even the office which is kinda lol at this point in the series, and i don't care if they don't like 30 rock.  whatever!  i admit that the characters are somewhat one-dimensional in their appeal AAAA SHE'S NERDY//CLUELESS but the situations this results in vary a lot and then there is just the fact that even if you take issue with the plotlines, which i do not have as much of a problem with as you do it seems (they really are not all that samey imo), the dialogue is pretty strong and at times really clever.  i don't have a boner for liz lemon tho idk why you'd think this; i don't think i've ever even mentioned 30 rock.  its maybe my fav show on atm but that's only because i don't keep up with curb.

also it'll....it'll get easier

i think 30 rock has a lot of clever and funny moments but it's got at least as many hackneyed jokes and tired plotlines.

i mean come on...they aren't that smart if they write a character like frank. he's not the only bad thing on the show at all but every time he says something it's like "...man, that's lame."

30 rock is medicore but every now and then there's a little spark to it.

i just watched the latest episode - it was a stinker.

I keep getting these two confused all the time, it's really frustrating.

30 rock is so boring.
All sitcoms are awful, 30 rock is just one more in the bag.
I give Curb Your Enthusiasm the benefit of doubt because i havent seen it.

But yeah, nowadays comedy is sick bad. Miss the old days of

i think curb your enthusiasm is pretty shit, too. it's like

Larry: *makes an off colour comment*
Cheryl: *rolls eyes*

cue everyone in the universe except his buddy jeff to act psychotic while larry makes things worse by trying to make them better.

i mean if the dialogue was funny then cool but usually it isn't. curb your enthusiasm just annoys me more than anything.

who else is even close to being as dumb a character as frank?  also these people get like no airtime

also curb is pretty formulaic in some ways when it comes to its plotlines but you can essentially make even a good show sound like shit that way.

it's always sunny in philadelphia:

the gang: *does something incredibly insensitive and stupid*
everybody else: you guys are going to hell

I'm not really trying to make a point here I just wanted to join in on the fun

well yeah okay i see your point but i can't think of a single episode of curb your enthusiasm that hasn't totally revolved around larry doing something unthinkably dumb and everyone hating him for it, but being really unreasonable about the whole issue just so the plot works. it's just tired, how many times am i supposed to go "oh that larry!!!" and that's the joke?

well the more developed the characters are the more attributes they've got you won't find that the main characters are so stupidity written, at least not consistently. tracy CAN be really funny, but he usually isn't and didn't get funny for a while. liz and jack are probably funny most of the time but even they have their crappy aspects (liz got baby fever HA HA jack making references to rich celebrities he knows HA HA). ryan was right about that "i'm on meds and bugging out!!!" stuff in that one episode - there's a lot of tracy stuff like that that just isn't funny. and the whole show is just prone to cheap shots, telegraphed or really old jokes and i'm saying it's about on the level of an episode of scrubs but with some actual wit thrown in there.

i'm not saying i hate 30 rock or anything, i still watch it, but it's not really amazing and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless we were bored and had nothing to do.

but i really, really hate frank. like i would punch that guy.

what?  that's not curb at all!  i mean that's some of it but other times larry doesn't do ANYTHING AT ALL and people explode at him for it.  the point is that he's kind of an asshole but manages to still be a sympathetic character at the same time.

as for the baby fever, it is not the best but a) working women in their thirties really do this dude!!! and b) it is not even that prominent.  jack makes references to rich people he knows but the joke is never LOL I KNOW THIS GUY so much as the absurd lifestyles of the economically elite.  he treats it like it is some secret club that 99.9% of people do not belong to and this is funny because it's probably completely true.  also, i don't remember the WHOAA DRUGS episode aside from TAKE ME TO SPACEMAN which was pretty good.  also spaceman is funny in his own right.

i was being sarcastic with 'unthinkable' cos usually what larry does is a small thing and it snowballs cos everyone in the world is predisposed to hate larry's guts at the first sign of faux pas. but it's just like, watching curb your enthusiasm is a constant suspension of disbelief that isn't really worth it cos the jokes aren't clever.

i'm sure a bunch of them do!!! i saw them make HILARIOUS jokes about it on friends.

if tina fey can do better then why doesn't she.

yeah the knock on that was bullshit i think - i had just watched new ep of 30 rock where jack is being especially Mr. Elite Hilarious and the show even seems to be on his side which i didn't like. plus there were a few clunkers like "i nurse an old vegetative man..." "that reminds me i'll have to give lou dobbs a call" which is just crappy writing. jack's usual schtick is actually pretty good i take it back.

i didn't mean to emphasize him being drugged out over other lame tracy craziness. he's always doing dumb kenan and kel shit like "grab me a tuna fish, a tube of industrial strength glue and meet me at the sock factory!!!" ha ha ha h those things are unrelated. i don't mean to get down on kenan and kel...those boys have a place in my childhood memories, but it's just crappy slapstick stuff without the funny part where somebody falls down.

dude come on, SURVIVOR AUSTRALIA VS HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR.  a lot of the jokes are really funny.  beloved cunt oooooops.  i think the suspense of disbelief thing is good because the majority of the characters are essentially NORMAL and then larry is like a sitcom character and this juxtaposition is the joke.

also where did i say "tina fey can do better"?  i'm just saying i don't think it is a fundamentally bad thing to make a joke about.  hehe babby crazy is lame most of the time but it is a joke about ACTUAL SITUATIONS so there's nothing on an intrinsic level that makes it unfunny i do not think.  also yeah this past ep wasn't so hot.  like aside from WHEN DO YOU THROW THE DONUTS OUT it was mediocre.  this season in general has been really good though, imo.

also idk i think this is an oversimplification.  tracy's character clearly isn't just some crazy guy and i don't think the joke is SLAPSTICK HILARIOUS!!!  he's meant to be a parody of crazy eccentric stars who are just constantly able to have their way obviously so i think most of those jokes relate more to CELEB LIVES and how people cater to them way too much than just being stupid and pointless.

i love 30 and curb because it takes the "good" people and ruins their lives because of their crippling social flaws.

liz wants a baby so she fusses with a midgets hair how is that not the funniest shit.

the last time i watched 30 rock it had tracy dressed up as white woman to prove a point and liz tripping on a plane and thinking a little girl was oprah.

hilarious...
