Concerning the Cartoon Network programming starting at 10 pm (central)...

What do you think of it?  What is you favorite show and what do you wish they would still show?

With Aquateen, I imagined they had become as trippy and insane as possible, but Superjail and Metalocalypse has proven otherwise.  Assy Mcgee has probably brought the most laughs of all the shows for me, but there are only about 6 episodes.  Boondocks is goddamn clever as well, but I rarely see episodes aired anymore.

I really do miss the nights filled with Cowboy Bebop and rare Gundam series, though.  (08th MS Team, anyone?)

oh yeah, and space ghost, not sure if that was adult swim, but played out at the same time of night.

Venture Brothers. Best Adult Swim show ever conceived. Ever.

Apparently Mike Lazzo doesn't believe in anything with actual development and cancels/doesn't fund all of the best shows.  Moral Orel and Korgoth of Barbaria come to mind and it doesn't look like Superjail! will get another season.

I still can't believe he canceled Moral Orel for being "too dark" and yet Robot Chicken gets away with every skit being about rape.

I'm guessing it probably has something to do with developing characters rather than random people that you can't really connect or contrast with. It also presented some of the themes and material in such a way that tries to convince the viewers into having some sort of empathy for the characters. So it's probably 'dark' on a psychological level rather than the surface.

I know I was watching the hunting episode with the drunkish father and I just couldn't help but think that it was really fucked up. But, whatever.

I completely agree Marcus.

Inuyasha has been on since before I was in highschool, so like 8 years? And yet we have gems like Stroker and Hoop that only last a season.

Moral Orel ended well imo. But ending Superjail as is is a fucking crime.

Yeah, there's really no excuse for that one.
At all.
Actually, there is and it involves money. The problem is, if not enough people are watching a show then nobody wants to buy ads on that time slot and revenue for television channels is based on ads. It's pretty much bullshit yeah, but cartoon network has to cover their ass. You already knew that probably, but just had to remind you.

If everyone hasn't already seen it, watch Frisky Dingo season 2. It is absolutely brilliant. Some of the best writing/voice acting of any animated show ever.

I dunno if it is anymore, but Inuyasha was on at 5am. I really don't think it was raking money in, since it was all reruns, and being on that late/early.

From what I understand though, Williams St. does interact with the members on the their forums and stuff, so they're pretty in tune with what their viewers like.

King of the Hill being on there is p. great, but I just don't enjoy most of the Adult Swim stuff.  I liked the older Adult Swim stuff, like Space Ghost, Brak, Home Movies, etc., but the stuff on now doesn't appeal to me.

They should renew Home Movies. But no.... the creator would rather go on tour playing mock Death Metal.

Adult Swim is still a pretty high grossing channel.  I read a statistic saying that in the 6 or so hours that it's own (half that time being a repeat of the previous time slot) they often match Comedy Central's ratings for the entire day and that's its own network!

wasn't tom and eric on AS? yea a lot of people here really like t&e.

I think having that calibur voice acting on top of such convoluted non-sequitur concepts and forcing limited, stock animation on it is a crime.

It's completely terrible that people might praise the show because they assume it's "supposed" to be animated completely shitty, and conciders it a good direction for them to go! Especially when what you are looking at constantly screams imaginative visual ideas at you and none of them get to be fufilled because it's all tweened in something that's probably flash.

It's more fun to watch that show with my eyes closed, but that might be just me.

No. Worst show on Adult Swim.

Morel Orel was just getting really, really good too. Superjail is getting pretty good also. As long as they keep Tim and Eric I guess i'll be ok.

It's hit or miss for me.  The first season IS completely terrible, though.

What appeals to me are certain "guest" characters, like Handbanana ("Tonight....You.....") and the Fruit Friends episode ("GET. THE LIQUOR. FASTER." "THERE'S A DEMON INSIDE OF ME!")

I love what I've seen from ATHF. Their guest characters pretty much make the show for me, though.

And yes I miss home movies too. Preferably the first season [mainly ][/mainly].

And I don't know why but I always catch myself watching Inyasha. I mean, I don't like the show, nor do I dislike it...But I'm always watching it.
