Yes suffer and waste resources, food, medicine, all that could be used on people deserving of it.

you work as a weapon for the us government and you still do not seem to realize how precious human life actually is. what is the point in killing them anyways? thats some medieval, barbaric, caveman way of thinking. OUR RESOURCES NOOO!!

China is one of, if not THE most overpopulated places on the face of the earth.

You've got people over there killing babies because their government has to limit the child to household ratio. The AIR hundreds of miles off the coast smells like fucking shit and piss because its so goddamn overpopulated and nasty. And here you are worried about a few greedy dumbasses getting  two loaves of bread and a carrot stick every day, for the rest of their lives.

I mean you've probably single-handedly wasted more in bullets over the past few months then these idiots would for the REST OF THEIR LIVES living in a Chinese prison.

Yeah this is a pretty extreme reprisal for a couple of guys who were basically trying to scam people for some quick $$$.  I can definitely see throwing them in prison, but DEATH?  It's not like they conceived the idea with the intent to kill babies!

Messing with children to make a buck? Cut of their balls and shove them up the nostrils! No novacane, no stick to bite. The death sentance should be replaced with torture and lifelong suffering.

It is pretty messed up to poison baby's milk to make money, but no crime is vile enough to warrant giving any government the right to murder its own citizens (or anyone actually). Sentencing people to death is an inherently barbaric idea, one humanity should grow out of.
Don't misunderstand me, if someone killed my child to make a buck I would probably want to kill them MYSELF. It wouldn't give me the right to, however: there is no justification for murder, absolutely none. Reporters would ask me, do you think the criminals' sentence was high enough? I'd answer NO! I want their  B L O O D  on my hands! No sentence would quench my thirst of vengeance and justice, I would want them to burn in hell forever, but thats why I wouldn't be the one to pick a sentence to begin with, that's why a civilized government would pick a cool-headed judge to put the criminal behind bars and leave it at that.

Just cause this seems to be a lot about the death penalty now- what do you guys think about cases like Paul Bernardo? Do you think it'd still be unwarranted?

I think it is relevant to note that criminal justice systems are usually for rehabilitation, not punishment.  The best argument against death penalties is that there is no chance of redeeming the human being.  If your argument is that we shouldn't waste resources on criminals in prison . . . then maybe we should put them to work instead of killing them?

Well I do not want to live in China, if stupidity is cause enough for a death sentence.

Death sentance is always unwarranted and barbaric.

ok I wouldn't want to do the death penalty but the ball thing sounds pretty appropriate, they definitely wouldn't see that coming

do you guys just spend your free time inventing over-the-top punishments for people because you rattle them off like you'd been saving them up

also I see such and such's point about most people being aware of the dangers of cigarettes but still they chose to get into that line of work (guy who works at cigarette company), like I think you're just being anal about how moral this and that is when it's like comparing shitheads to dickheads

Edit: I'm not saying they deserve the death penalty I'm just saying both should rot in jail - and I guess like if some cigarette guy actually considers himself better than them I don't know maybe he's right or wrong but he's a shithead just for debating it

no, it's pretty obviously wrong, but everytime something like this happens (all the time), its just helpless seeing everyone saying china is monstrous/should change etc (except some of the idiots supporting them here)

(this isn't to say I agree with the death penalty because I don't)

But as to the people saying China's being barbaric for having the death penalty, doesn't the U.S. also have capital punishment? Not as frequent but they still do it. So it's not only a "western" assault then on China (in this thread) since capital punishment is in practice also in the west.

U.S. leaves death penalty up to the state but it's still wrong and it is a ridiculously long process. people on death row automatically get at least one appeal, and there's all sorts of other stuff.

it's still wrong to kill people no matter what.

Its not like alot of us want it here either, we're just easily overruled by bloodthirsty dipshits and judges with a god complex.

There was a very well written article steel posted up that a reporter wrote about his experience with the US justice system's use of the death penalty. You should probably read it.

Illinois rules because they've executed 12 people since the reinstatement of the death penalty in the 70s but in that time 13 who were on death row were later cleared. Since then Illinois has had a moratorium on the death penalty. But yea basically how can you even conscientiously be ok with the death penalty when more innocent people would have died than presumably guilty people (who even knows on those 12!). Also Texas accounts for a humongous chunk of executions, it's kind of ridiculous that we allow a state to execute so many people! kind of an aside but really

Well, granted, if I was one of those people and was forced to choose between "killing" a baby, and a convicted serial killer, I'd probably pick the latter...

:-/

But it is pretty ironic actually.
