Carmen Sandiego is one I clearly recall playing in school, I cant really remember much about the other games.
I was browsing through TIGdb last night and actually stumble upon this http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/games/questionaut/
I'm a little older than the intended age group but it was so charming I couldn't help but play it through to the end  :)​.
