I'm going to be honest: I started watching 24 for Kiefer Sutherland. The show could be about flying ninja porcupines from Jupiter and, as long as Kiefer Sutherland was in it, I'd watch it.
While a big part of my enjoyment of 24 comes directly from watching Kiefer Sutherland kick ass and take names, I have to admit that, as the years wear on, the concept of the show itself has kept me hooked. I absolutely love the real-time element. The revolving door of guest characters is also enough to keep me entertained, this year especially with the return of Carlos "Tony's not really a bad guy" Bernard and the addition of Colm "I've played every dead Canadian politician" Feore.
The plot is usually very predictable: Jack Bauer is gonna have a really bad day but it's all right because he saves the world! A little bit of predictability is a good thing, and I've found that 24 is one of those shows that I can predict most of what's going to happen. Then, suddenly, something I don't expect will happen and I'm hooked, struggling to figure out what I missed.
Speaking of what I missed, I suppose I should watch episode 6 before watching episode 7 tomorrow night.
