Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles is a awesome action adventure game on the psp which is a remake of rondo of blood

you play as richter belmont but can unlock several different characters (from the original game and the others)

the main game is pretty short but is very difficult and not for the faint hearted

to make up for the shortness of the game you can unlock lots of modes like boss rush mode etc.

and also in this game you can unlock 2 previous castlevania games which are castlevania rondo of blood (the original copy of the game) and castlevania symphony of the night

i bought this game like a week ago and i am very inpressed with it for whats ment to be a 2d game it has graphics that are equal to crisis cores

anyways it is a very great game and id recomend it for any psp owner 10/10 i got it for around $69.99 australian dollars i dont how much it is in other countries but there absolutely no excuse to not buy it if you have a psp

Rondo of Blood 2.5d remake and Symphony of the Night. A win win combination for the psp. If you haven't played this yet you should.

1. So this is like Castlevania Dracula X for the SNES that game being a watered-down version of Rondo of Blood right which I guess it's possible for Rondo to be good but seriously Dracula X for SNES was like the worst Castlevania (besides the N64 one that was just CASTLEVANIA)

2. Cecil Harvey's posting style is like a 6th grader in Microsoft Word trying to get away with writing a report on Castlevania

Rondo of Blood is a really great classic Castlevania. I prefer the sprite based graphics it had on the pc engine, but eh, whatever.

But yeah to make Cecil's post clearer (I did a thread about this game a while before it came out, long ago):

This is a remake of Rondo of Blood, in 2.5d, but you can unlock the original game and SotN. And SotN is redubbed. But I don't know if you can use Maria. It'd be great, but I doubt it.

Depends. Classic Castlevania or the Metroidvanias? If it's just one of the two, you could still try it (possibly if you have a hacked psp, just download it) since you have both in this.

Rondo of Blood is probably the best classic castlevania game and while it is a little short, it sure is HARD. Unless you play with maria offcourse then the game becomes really easy.

SotN is the best metroidvania imho, Rondo of Blood is still better than any of the metroidvanias but thats just because I really hate them.

I got this simply because it had SotN. But seriously, it was a good buy for 15 bucks.

No not really, just 2 in the core game. If you are talking about the unlockable games in DXC, then you are still mistaken because every character in that game that is unlockable is maria. Technically speaking, its still two.

With dual rings of varda you don't even need a weapon.

Hmm, I'll try it out, btw what is the difference between Castlevania and Metroidvania, I don't even know what the latter is.

IIRC, a 'Metroidvania' is one with a map that you can gradually explore as you get further through the game, e.g. get 'Massive Hammer' so you can finally smash that lump of stone blocking the path you found near the start of the game, and go to the new zone, that kind of thing. Like Dawn of Sorrow on the DS, not sure about the other DS ones, though.

Also, I might get this. Symphony of the Night was supposed to be very good, wasn't it? And that Rondo of Blood remake doesn't look bad, either...

It's very good. My first play through (which was about two years ago I might add) was a MAGICAL experience. Don't use faqs though. Item hunting and what not can really ruin the experience for you. Save that for your next play through.

Also yeah... classic is when you play through levels (1, 2, 3...) and metroidvania is when you explore a persistent setting.

*sigh* I really want another linear castlevania, not just a port or remake a BRAND FUCKING NEW ONE. I just want them to quit making metrovanias for one second so they can do this.
