Okay, so here's the low down. Due to a lack of room in, well, my room, I want to cut out my monitor and use my tv for my monitor. I have a 32" Sony Bravia LCD. It has the hook up like for a monitor. The problem is not that I can't figure out how to connect it, as I know how to do that, and it works ONLY for a select few full screen programs. I want to be able to see on my tv what I would on a monitor. Is there a setting in my control panel for this or no. Because I looked, and to luck.

Please help me out!

Note that a TV usually does not have the same resolutions as a monitor and will not support higher resolutions.

That's true, but why would it show some things, and nothing else?

What do you mean? You said you were running FULLSCREEN programs. Fullscreen programs usually change the resolution.

Yeah, just lower the resolution and see if that helps.  Like Farmrush said, fullscreen programs change the resolution--check and see what resolution those programs automatically default to, and start from there.

yeah basically you need to use a widescreen resolution, for example 1280x720 (am I right on this?). check your resolution options in your display properties, but if your graphics card doesn't support widescreen resolutions you have a problem!

A lot of TVs can stretch the image if you aren't using a widescreen resolution.  It's not as pretty but it gets the job done.

1280x720 worked, thanks a bunch. I fiddled with it before, but couldn't find a resolution that worked, got frustrated and gave up before trying them all lol.

Since this is dealing with the same topic, I want to ask you guys this:  I had my PC set to clone the image to both my monitor and TV, but it clones them at the same resolution.  I set it using the nvidia control panel software.  Is there any way to set it to clone the image, but use a separate resolution for each display?

I don't know if this is possible at all but it would be nicer than having to have one display with a terrible looking image (I can put up with it though)

It wouldn't be a clone if it was different resolutions! I definitely wouldn't count on this.
