They are finally making a sequel to Lost Planet Extreme Conditions with, surprise surprise Lost Planet 2! They just released a trailer for it and you can view it here: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/45850.html just note that the designer for RE5 is going to be talking for like the first 2-3 minutes of the video so if you don't want to view that, just go a bit ahead in the video. The trailer itself is entirely with game play footage(minus a HUD) and it looks pretty good. According to the Q/A at the end of the video, the game won't focus on a single player but different snow pirates as you fight the Akrid(i belive thats how you spell it XD). This makes it seem like it won't have too much story, but seeing how fucking generic the story was in the first one, I think its better off. They also mentioned the game will feature Online Co-Op which is a feature I commend them for including. The biggest addition I like the most is the environments. Ten years after the first LP, the climate has changed so you now see not only the trademark snowy areas, but you will also see jungles and deserts as well. This is great because if there was one thing I found shitty about the first one(other than the story) was the repetitive environments. What do you guys think of this? Think it will be good?

I'm skeptical. Lost Planet looked very beautiful, but I was kind of put off by the repetitive gameplay, the cheap bosses, and... it had a story? I'm definitely looking forward to co-op, but unless they make some drastic changes, I feel like it's just going to be Lost Planet: continued. Also had the worst keyboard+mouse support of any port, ever. A little part of me dies inside when I have to plug in a 360 controller to play a 360 port on my PC because the developers were too lazy to incorporate mouse movement correctly.

I like Lost Planet. It was an insanely repetitive game, but I still kinda liked it. I also loved the snow environments, even though yeah, it was just snow. I'll definitely look into this when it comes out.

It looks less repetitive if that counts as a drastic change. I just hope that the online play would be more streamlined, there were numerous times where I played Lost Planet Colonies Edition and I would get disconnected or there would be a great amount of lag, and my connection is pretty rock solid.

I fucking HATED Lost Planet 1. I remember playing the demo about a decade before the game came out and thinking "This is like Contra in 3D! I fucking love it!", but the game was a huge disappointment. These massive snowy areas where you just... ran... and ran... and ran forward. Ow look! A giant worm thing! It's gonna kill me. I'll just keep running forward... yawn.

But co-op makes everything 100 times better, so I'm keeping an eye on this one.

I hated that giant fucking worm in mission 3 of LP, I never could kill the bastard. I can play it on all difficulties but I could never beat it, and from what I hear you can get a pretty good achievement from it.

Lost Planet 2 is being made by the Resident Evil 5 team I hear so I wouldn't be surprised if this game surpassed the somewhat lackluster original. From the looks of this trailer it appears to already be better and has got me pretty interested.

I killed the giant worm too, you just had to shoot all the glowing parts and avoid getting eaten. The "Worm Hunter" achievement only gives 50 points.

The trailer looked pretty good, and I enjoyed the original, but any sort of co-op focus tends to turn me off on games. Side note...the mini-trailer for "Singularity" that played as the LP2 one was loading looks interesting too.

I got LP1 off steam for 75% off for £3  and I have to say I'm kinda enjoying it.... a lot... despite the criticisms!

Its also the first DX10 game I have run at completely full settings on my hardware and it's had no complaints at all and it looks beautiful. Stuff like footprints in snow is really well achieved and it's hard to not play it once you get started. The story is completely crud don't get me wrong but that's not really the point now is it...

A Capcom game I like. Who would have thought it.

As beautiful as the scenery was in LP1, I kind of wished there was more variety which is what LP2 is giving us thank god.
