However, since it was a radial blast, rather than a spherical one and it looked like it gave him a few moments after setting it that he technically could have figured a way to survive. Like, just set it up next to some stairs, start it and run down. Might have been injured, and he'd possibly go deaf but I think he'd survive. Also
I thought Echo putting Paul in her head was messed up in a kind of creepy way.
