so as many of you know my dad died in 1992. because he was a PhD he left a lot of books and notes behind. some are obviously fucking bemusing, like his thesis on the effect of asbestos on artifical lungs blah blah and some are sad like the letters he left behind. and a few are mysterious, like this. my mom started to reorg the bookshelves and as we were talking out the Encyclopedia of Modern Medicine he bought, this fell out. the back says nothing except a repeating watermark of "this paper manufactured by Kodak". this and the non ripped edges lead me to believe it's not an insert but possibly a photo he or one of his colleagues took. it's black and white, glossy paper, a little smaller than 8x10 but not by much. there are a few smudges and scratch marks on it, meaning before it was placed in the book it was pretty well handled. the mystery is of course, what the fuck it is:

on initial look it looks like a pressed flower but on closer inspection I'm wondering if it's not a piece of a destroyed lung or something. I have no fucking idea so maybe one of you could figure it out? it has very little sentimental value but still it is interesting to me.

Very strange. At first sight it looks more like the transition from ileum to colon. But yeah if it's anything medical it's probably a piece of lung attached to a piece of bronchus.

it's gotta be something medical I think. just the fact it's in the encyclopedia of medicine or whatever.

just checked one of his early lung models. nothing on it looks like it, but it's also just a technical lung model with alveoli and all that. this could be a broken piece of a lung???

Looks like a tongue (above that is the nasal cavity), followed by the pharynx, larynx, and finally the esophagus to me!

is that really what it looks like or are you guessing? as I said it was in a medical book and he did a lot of lung work which would involve the throat!

it's jizz in midair.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.
