I still haven't beaten RE4, hell, till about 2 weeks ago I had only played about 2 minutes on the PC version (I promptly quit, it was ugly, the controls were terrible) Now I'm playing through RE4 for the first time. So far I like it. Honestly I thought I would hate it because of the stop to shoot thing. That and the fact that I don't have a PS2 or a Gamecube kept me from bothering with it. but my friend it letting me use his PS3 to play it.

That's sorta like me, I'd only played a short way into the game before getting annoyed at Ashley's AI - Then I started up again and thanks to remembering that there's a wait command, and being able to aim and shoot quick (Good Ol' Wii controls) I'm actually now more than half way through. Plus it's the lengthiest game I've played to date - I'm upto 10 hours so far, that's longer than it took me to complete some of the PS3 games - Games these days are either getting shorter or easier... actually it must be shorter, Silent Hill 5's bosses are kicking my ass >.<

yeah, Silent Hill: homecoming's bosses are actually pretty hard. Though I played it my first time on Hard difficulty. The end boss was easy for me... I was a crazy ammo conserver and just shot the end boss till he died. Though, I actually rather fight some of the earlier bosses then even 1 fucking Needler, those things are a BITCH to kill and they are to fast to just avoid and can climb up on walls and hang from ceilings.

Anyway if it wasn't obvious already I'm playing the PS2 version. In fact I don't have a Wii and have few friends that do, I've never asked to play any games with them other then brawl (Which I suck at) and that doesn't use motion controls... so I've never used the Wii's motion controls... at all...

EDIT: They are getting shorter and easier generally though. For instance, took me 6-7 hours to beat Halo 3 on Heroic on my FIRST play-through. then again... I had lots of experience with past iterations.

Also I have a tenancy to hate super popular games, a good example of this is that fact that I tried all of the rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band and couldn't stand them...

Just so you know, there was a patch for the PC version of RE4 that made it on par with the console versions. And if you use a gamepad, it's pretty much the same controls.
Also, I think you just hate rythm games. I mean, Halo was for a long time the best example of a super popular game. A long, long time.

But anyway, on the subject of RE, I kinda agree with Liman. The only thing though is that imo it's pretty easy to tie up plot points. It seems the most popular thing to do: make something unrelated, then tie it with the main story because fan rage pressures you into doing so. I kinda miss the days of those good old cartoons where every episode was almost always something entirely disconnected from the rest of the series, but only kept the setting/characters.

Well, Halo is popular, but it isn't really popular around my school at all. I'm more likely to find someone that hates Halo then loves it. So I guess that is why I didn't include it in the popular games.

Keepign to the resi-evil theme of the topic, I was watching a stream on Justin.TV of someone playing the final section of the game in Co-Op, and all I want to know is What is this series' fascination with finishing everything with a freaking rocket launcher? Can't they have the final baddie killed using a freaking knife or pistol? Would make for a more entertaining ending...

James Marcus is killed by a single magnum shot in RE: Zero (with some help from the sun).

The Rocket Launcher was from the beginning wasn't it? And the whole super soldier thing was always there too (the Tyrant, and those Mr. Xs). The Neo aspect was inevitable, considering one of the non canonical games had a man turned into a female then turned into a tyrant with electricity powers. Capcom never really took it that seriously with the plot, good ol' campy plots gotta love em'.

Considering that it's Wesker the baddy of all baddies in RE. Atleast he's finally dead, now about Leon coming out of the closet.
A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

THought of another Resi Evil that doesn't end witha  rocket launcher, and I find it one fo the more entertaining ones - Resident Evil: Gaiden.

For not actually coming anywhere in the storyline, it's actually quite a fun game, even with it's crazy as hell battle system (A.K.A The ammo wasting system) I actually got most of the way through it.

only the numbered resident evils are considered canon (except code veronica which isn't numbered but is canon) so gaiden, outbreak, and survivor games don't count when you consider the rocket launcher drop.

Capcom "Were going to change the formula of RE with six"

RE6 Announcement "You can now RUN & SHOOT!!! That's right you fucken bitches!"

I honestly expect this and that be it. I really enjoyed RE5 as it was a great and enjoyable game to play through, especially with a friend but to take away the series long sought appeal of Survival horror makes you feel a little cheated by the game.

But standing and shooting is one of the main features of the series, can't take that away from them! On the subject of new Resi Evil's (sorta), here's to hopping the Resi Evil remake for the wii has a control scheme that's close to that of Resi Evil 4, especially seeing as I've gotten used to that playing style now. Still not finished, as u can probably see from my sig (For now atleast, until I update it)

It's kind of sad when a shitty control scheme is considered a main feature of a series. If they're going to make another action game, which RE5 clearly is, the overall experience would be more enjoyable if they implement more flexible controls.

That's awfully negative considering what was actually said.

I don't know, but the narrator's voice in that video is outright HORRENDOUS.

And anyway, that's what they ALWAYS say about sequels, or almost.

Keep your eyes peeled because they're gonna announce it in 2 years and it'll come out in 3!

I played the new Verses DLC at my friend's house today, and it is half assed. One mode is basically like Call of Duty World at War's nazi zombies mode where you and 4 others have to survive but try to get a higher score than each other at the same time. Then there is a basic deathmatch mode which is self explanatory. It wouldn't be too bad if you could actually fucking move and shoot at the same time, which makes the deathmatch mode pretty useless since you can't actually move and shoot, you only stand their and just shoot at each other until one falls. That's what it basically is! A fucking falling contest! I liked the competitive survival mode though but it feels very similar to mercs which comes with the game, so its basically that but you can add 2+ players and a competitive element. The only thing that would stop me from downloading this half assed shit is that it is 400 MS points, four words: NOT FUCKING WORTH IT.
