The bunny hat and the short shorts --> Nintendo getting into the child porn business.

I'm more interested in what the train is supposed to mean. They had to do it for a good reason if they decided to do it at all.

I mean, it's not like they go around arbitrarily assigning specific objects for link to focus on in a manner blatant enough to warrant it being a part of the game's title.

I mean yeah, they did it maybe once for Ocarina of Time, but it's not like they've ever done it since then.

Guys! The Zelda series is dead! Please!

Zelda was awesome in its heyday. But eventually it's going to peter out into what's happening with Mario and Sonic, and it'll be fricking old.

Well Sonic is a bit iffy, then again Sega seems determined to wanting to go entirely back to the traditional style that people want them to.  Unleashed came close, then there was Werehog.  But Mario?  Galaxy was excellence, not perfect, but not exactly "petering out" either.

They should at least wait ten years before they make a new one.

Fuck that!  Maybe step aside from doing huge mainstream entires like Twilight Princess I suppose which already take a long time to develop anyway, but I'm still rather partial to other stuff like the games alongside that of Four Swords or even something like this which is something of an extension on Phantom Hourglass which in itself was as such to Wind Waker.

i don't get it.

i don't get how this train is supposed to be more fun than Epona, or a boat, since at first glance it's just the boat on rails.

yet at the same time I have very little concern I will be disappointed in the end because nintendo has never made a bad zelda game ever.

Nah, I guess I have to give credit where it's due. Mario's damn old and he's still doing pretty well. But yeah, I actually wouldn't mind more smaller scale games for the Zelda series, but I was honestly kind of disappointed in Twilight Princess. It didn't have that original Zelda-feel when I picked it up. I think Wind Waker held more true to the Zelda formula than Twilight Princess. It was new, it was fun.

I don't think a train's gonna do that for Link though. Really, Nintendo? *expects boss battle with Thomas the Chu Chu Train*

I didn't mind TP much, it's just that to me it definitely felt like treading familiar territory where Wind Waker seemed fresh despite holding true to a lot of conventions of the franchise.  But being Ocarina v2 seemed to be what people wanted out of TP considering the bitching that went on with Wind Waker and that's essentially what we got.  So yeah I'm usually a bit more hyped for new entries in the franchise when it seems like the devs were given some free reign to experiment beyond those conventions a bit.  I thought Phantom Hourglass was good for that, save for the bland dungeon design and the Ocean Temple timer.  DS specific functions, larger scale puzzles and the Whale Island were pretty cool, I thought.

With that said, I'm pretty surprised we've yet to see a Four Swords game since FS: Adventures.  Not only would the DS have been perfect for it a while ago, it might even be a fun consideration on Wii even if WiiWare had to be the delivery platform.

This looks like an unfortunate turn for the Zelda franchise. I wasn't excited for PH... and when I did get it I never got into it. The touch screen controls ruined it for me. **sigh**, here's to hoping this turns out good though.

I honestly don't see what people hated about twilight princess, I liked it too. Sure the motion controls felt a bit gimmicky but the game was pretty epic in some senses. I loved the fact that they added the ability for link to slash his sword on horseback, that made attacking enemies that got closer to you easier.

Looks pretty cool. They just replaced that gay boat with a train. And it doesn't look like it will take freaking twenty minutes to get to your location. I never played Phantom Hourglass, but the actual non-train stuff looks pretty fun.

i personally think the core game needs changing. STOP with the usual formula. fuck you mastersword.

the train idea is probably as fresh as this game is gonna get tbh.

This looks like of cool. I wounder if you can upgrade your train with different carts and stuff! Will there be other trains on the track? Will there be a massive train boss battle?

I don't get you haters saying Zelda dead. So you don't want another Zelda game ever? Fuck you, I mean I can get it where the newer games don't hold up to the two greats that were LttP and OoT, but still, I found TP and WW to be very fun.

japanese are kind of overly obsessed with railroads/trains

and HORSE SIMULATORS

Edit: http://img.timeinc.net/time/magazine/archive/covers/2007/1101071210_400.jpg legend of zelda: obama of time

Edit: it's ok that Nintendo's making like 5002 Zelda games a month, I just wish they'd transport some back to my childhood. For a while there my NES broke and everything and the only option was play Link to the Past again but then the saves started fucking up

This is awful let me tell you why.

Phantom hourglass was a really cool game except it had a few problems that were really hard to ignore because they were the most repeated elements of the game. The stealth segment in the temple you have to go to after every dungeon was really really terrible, they showed in the trailer that's back. nice lets hope it's not something you have to do every 15 mins

The sailing in wind waker was good because it gave you sense of freedom in a big ol sea but in phantom hourglass you just clicked where you want to go then you have to fucking SIT THERE while it non-interactively takes you along your path. You couldn't even just AFK it because little mushrooms or whatever would pop up and attack you. So what they've done here is thought OK WELL our stupid travel system didn't really work with a boat it wasn't fun.... but... you  know a form of travel that travels the same path with no interaction? ye a train. rather than fix the problem they reskinned it

my friend's little brother once said "you know whAt would be cool? zelda. only in the future and with a flying skateboard." I think it'll happen I'm calling it

a) i don't really see how japan is obsessed with trains, they have more trains in their lives (therefore would be more likely to use them in games) and we've had shit like railroad tycoon for just as long

b) the problem is they're just throwing this into a game to try to make up for the fact they're making the exact same zelda game they've been making for years

c) fuck you derby owners club is a fun game

well I could only think of like 2 train simulator franchises in Japan but I figured there were like 100 more games like that if you look hard enough/know the words to look for in rom lists (like densha)

I looked at the wiki page for train simulators and most of them seemed to come from the US or UK, i'm pretty sure trains are a p. universal theme for games

This is pretty much what I meant (but failed) to say in terms of Nintendo lacking ideas.
