If you haven't tried out Shining Forces yet start with the first one because it's really hard to get into it after playing the second part. At least it for me. Great games though, especially the second one.

same developers, same continuality, but not same genres or type of game

o i thought it was a dungeon crawler too. idc so i didnt watch the vids but the image you see at first just looks like what i remember shining in the darkness' battles looking like.

If your not passing around a save state, then how are you going to take turns doing battles?

Not the save state, the save file, which is created by saving using the game's actual saving system.

A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

I went ahead and selected Ouch! difficulty (that's the hardest one). I didn't notice much difference in the first battle, really, but I'm sure it gets hard later on and with no egress...whoah, it's gonna be tough. Real tough. I found the hidden mithril behind the ancient tower and sold it for cash since it's no use till much later in the game, and then I bought the new weapons for Bowie and Chester in the weapon shop in town. I didn't sell the original wooden weapons, the ones you start with, cos I wondered if maybe we might want to see how far we can get using only the original weapons. That might get way too difficult though.

Bowie and Sarah got a level up with old Chester lagging behind at level 1. Jaha joined.

It'll be interesting to see what choices other people make...

Okay, so I fought the second battle and it took about 5 minutes, although it wasn't really that easy. I managed to get Chester 2 levels because he can do long ranged attacks now, and Jaha and Sarah both got 1 level each. Bowie kind of stunk it up that battle because the monsters kept going after him and I didn't want to lose. I haven't gone to the second town yet or talked to Kazin, so whoever plays next will need to do that.

Also don't let Sarah fall behind! Right now she's got the most experience of anyone but it's really easy to let her slip. Don't let that happen! Try to let her get a couple easy kills or else it will get hard really fast! I don't even think we get a second healer until Creed's mansion, which is a million years away.

I never beat Shining Force 2 but it was a lot of fun, probably one of the few emulated games I still play from time to time. This sounds cool but way out of my league. I 'favorited' this thread, hope no one minds..

(Sorry, accidentally uploaded Chef's file, I Emailed the correct save to Dead Phoenix.)

Okay... so... I had to do 2 battles before I could save. One to visit Kalim's mentor and another after leaving the house. I saved immediately after. Theres a battle right ahead of you, and your in a castle so explore, explore, explore!!!

Anyways,
Bowie lvl. 5 has 31 exp.
Sarah lvl. 5 has 66 exp.
Chester (btw once we have more people exceeding 12 trash this guy, I can already see him lagging behind already) lvl. 5 has 89 exp.
Jaha lvl. 5 has 56 exp.
Kazin lvl 5 has 63 exp.

Okay a few tips for everyone else, first and formost wait atleast 2-3 rounds for the enemy to make a move. They'll slowly advance and the ones way at the back won't actually charge or advance until your kinda close and the front lines are dead (cept for the leader, the leader likes to chillax until their "body gaurd" engages or your too close for comfort). Single them out and throw your meat shields in there, right now only Jaha can actually take 3 hits and survive. Save the killing blows for the ones who need to lvl up if you can. If there is an opening for the spell casters, the leader, or anyone who can die in a single blow then chances are they'll start focusing on them.

I believe if you keep Bowie's starting weapon you'll be able to obtain the force sword, I think.

Anyways does my next turn get passed on cause I had to fight two battles without being able to save?
