yeah no one uses it right and now everyone namedrops it but uncanny valley only applies when you can't actually tell, it's just OFF for some reason. ff spirits within sort of had it but really the issue was more "ugh they look fake too" for the most part. it's basically correctly used for robotics but somehow vidcon guys picked it up.

and there's no way that happened with this ff vid unless you are kind of crazy because no one could believe that's real.

He's a comedian character that gives relief to the action. Almost all RPGs have this type of character. He's there to balance Lightning's...Cloud personality. I hope he gets more depth than what is shown though.

The thing that kinda bugs me is how repetitive it is. There wasn't any variety in the demo. Looks okay, though the UI still bugs me.

But anyway, it'll never even come close to being as bad as FFX/FFX2. That said, the battle system reminds me more of FFX2 than FF12, and that seems cool to me because I really liked FFX2's, even though the rest was absolute garbage.

Funny you mention that as this game is basically being made by the team who did Final Fantasy X & X-2. Felt a bit bummed when I found that out as I too hated X.. Aside from it's fast battle system and Blitzball was one of the best time wasters Ive enjoyed.

i dont think its bad at all.  that is A CHARACTER in most games/anime i think and he always acts like that so idk what you'd have them do.  make em strong.....brave.  actually they could because black representation in these games is awful and usually shit like barret yeah but i dont find this example in itself to be racially disgusting by any means.  it's just some stupid anime character dude.

also RPGs are fucking weird has there ever been like a Japanese/Asian character in those games who actually looks like it I mean I'm sure over there there are specific games like some samurai-themed rpg but yeah sometimes I think random Squaresoft employee looks in the mirror and sees (I dunno who would you say is the whitest guy in existence) even if there has been has there ever been one as the hero of the game or just some supporting character

Edit: I also propose that there should be an uncanny valley for anime-ness because if they had the technology back then probably every NES/SNES game would've just looked like an interactive anime but instead they had to improvise and play with the style a bit which actually gave it some charm, but now that they have sophisticated PS3 technology the game designers can make games exactly as they envision them which turns out to be really awful

Edit: Back to the Star Wars comparison imagine if Star Wars came out around now and Lucas was actually able to make things exactly how he imagined them like in the prequels? It's like that except replace special effects with not-so-graphically intensive game system and some Squaresoft dude instead of George Lucas (who the hell designs Final Fantasy anyway, like who's the director of it)
