I couldn't stand oblivion it was gash. Fallout 3 was endlessly more appealing to me, just because the setting is so much better and it has guns and not swords.

whoa is GASH a britishism now? that's usually a horrible term for women in America, like one you NEVER hear outside of books describing the dredges of society "LOOKIT THAT PIECE OF GASH" but you guys have also commodified "twat" and "cunt" into just words you call people.

still whoa.

Some guy on big brother a few years ago got told off for saying he was gonna "worship the gash" when he got out the big brother house because "that's no way to refer to a woman's lady garden!". Other than that I don't think anyone has ever been offended by it. I think "Quim" is the new hip and happening way to refer to vaginas atm.

Quim? Man I remember people getting tired of that one when I was like 15.

I hear gash a lot though but it's usually just BAD, hardly ever referring to vagina

Wait. I thought the British have been using the word "cunt" as punctuation since errr, before the Hundred Years war? Which means it's been commodified since before Americans began to think its bad.

1230. I don't understand how this is even considered to be a shocking word anymore?
(I personally do not use the word because it's very rude and shocking but I'm still shocked it's so old and still somehow only "shocking" to Americans, apparently! The word should have lost meaning waaay before America!)
don't mind me, just postin' after a few brewskies

i mean it's basically the only real swear word left in america other than nigger or any other racist one.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

introducing Jude: the gaming prophet

This is based on other games Ken has created that were then picked up by others.  He creates fundamentally good games that are easy for other developers to pick up on and continue, but they're usually not as strong as the original title.  See:  Thief series.

Still man, you spoke of it with such certitude, the only possible options are either you're a prophet, you're making the game yourself or you travelled to the future and came back.

This is true.  You'll have to guess which, though.

if i recall, he didnt work on System Shock 1 (some doug guy worked on it) and came in for System Shock 2 instead... the second was far superior. a milestone in gaming. There is no denying Ken Levine doesn't have a touch that turns everything into sheer awesome.

i also forgot thief came before system shock. and yes, there are many games which were subpar he made. But SWAT4 and bioshock were unique or important in their own ways.

I don't know of any games he's made that qualify as subpar.

Loved it, and I don't think I'm alone in that.

the best part is at least five people read panda's post and scowled competely on reflex because he used kotor and oblivion as examples of bad games for the very reasons they love it.

but man that shit annoys the fuck out of me too. i know you can blow up a town in fallout 3, but did that even matter as far as REAL PLOT?

lets make a game where you can accidentally shoot the main villain and then you never get to play fuck all or you do and there's just nothing really going on. openendedness for real...

snake...uh. just wait in the jungle a bit. i mean you kind of shot the boss. so.

your sister talk about me?
if i remember right in fallout if you actually go exploring you can find that secret vault with memory lane and your dad and all that stuff on your own, right from the beginning, thereby skipping like 3/4ths of the game's events or something.

that's great freedom there, skipping more than half the game you paid $60 for!

Planet Scape Torment had that too right? Where like all that content that could be skipped by simply following the main plot and beat it at lvl 4 in a short time?

Too much freedom is bad because hey, you beat the game 5 minutes in by sniping the big bad dude!!! Your money down the drain!!!
A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.
