If you look at it from any reasonable perspective (i.e. any perspective other than I AM ANGRY RIGHT NOW, GOTTA GET REVENGE) it is an awful idea.  You'd better believe you're not getting hired if you're secretly filming people on the job.

My boss is being a dick. Gotta show the world....

This sort of thing happens all over the place and the only way to excel in an office/ work environment is to "play the game". That course of action seems petty and immature at best.

Bring in a bottle of pills to work and place it on your workspace/desk in full view. Label it "Prozac" or something. Whenever your boss is bitch to you, grab your bottle of "pills" (Vitamin C or something harmless), open it while she's talking to you and pop a pill.

Repeat this a few times and she might be conditioned into understanding that her assholery is making you depressed. If she has even a bit of sympathy, she will one day say "oh my god are you OK?" At this point you can say "no... i.. i dont wanna talk about it" but as she further questions you, tell her how she's been causing you pain, depression, anguish, etc

Or you could just knock on her door and have a conversation with her, keeping as calm as possible.

OMG that is really, really funny.

Anyway, I'm not really worried about my boss seeing that I posted about her on some random forum. She doesn't have time to go on hobby forums and it's not like I put a video of her on youtube to slander her name. Not to mention that the forum is somewhat anonymous. I don't currently have my name up anywhere and people in the game industry don't go out of their way to tell someone about some ranting they heard about on the internet.  Most people in the industry are male, and guys aren't as interested in spreading gossip or getting involved in other people's business as women.  I'm certainly not interested in making some kind of big media scene. I'm simply feeling stressed and it's nice to talk about it.

I also don't have another supervisor, she makes all the decisions and reviews everyone's work personally. The id software mobile office is like 20 minutes from the main id software office. So the only people there are from the mobile team and there are only like 7 of us there right now.

I'm also not concerned about talking to my coworkers about this kind of stuff. They already know!  All of my coworkers are upset about the way she treats us. I mean we went out to lunch today and my coworkers were all complaining about her. When our 2nd assistant was there - we even told her she could sue for harassment.  The fact is, our assistants can't get blacklisted for an industry they don't want to work in! Unfortunately, our 2nd assistant does suffer from some anxiety issues and wasn't remotely interested in suing (unlike our 3rd assistant, who just didn't stick around long enough to have any good reason to sue).

Maybe John Carmack will google himself and find this topic in the cache, and then talk to his wife for you.

My first advice is to start shopping for another job. If your workplace is caustic, it can really cut into what would otherwise be a perfectly happy life. If the turnover rate in that office stays high, eventually someone in charge of the money will point it out to "THE" John Carmack, who may come to realize that putting his wife in charge of a development team was probalby not the best idea. So yeah, striaighten up your portfolio and get to a place where you think they'll treat you better. I know jobs are lean right now, but the games sector is always growing.

Failing that, buy a puppy and use "taking care of new puppy" as an excuse to work from home?

What you COULD do (although I don't know how well it would work out) is talk to your co-workers about some sort of collective rapproachement (fancy word for non-agressive confrontation) with your employer. Maybe get together and start talking about policies of workplace etiquette and sexual harrassment and stuff like that, or get someone from the labour board to come in and give a talk about what is accepptable or what is not. If you pretend that the problem is each other and not the boss she may change her behaviour by osmosis.

"Lead by example" is always something people can do in any situation, and if you encourage people in your office to all try and maintain an impenetrable, ataraxic professionalism (which can be hard if its not the norm) maybe she will conform to what you all are doing. Tell the guys to start wearing pressed shirts, ties and slacks, to set up established breaks and to try not to do social things at work. It is a place of business, so even if the boss doesn't treat it as such, you employees might as well.

I totally feel for you, your position is really unenviable. The only thing I can say is to lean on your coworkers when you feel alienated, try not to take stupid people to seriously, and laugh it off. Understanding that a lot of people can't realize what douchebags they are should make you feel compassionate towards them rather than hating them.

Also, I agree with whoever said to grow a pair and ask for a promotion and a raise.

I like my boss, but it's his PMS-ing, second-in-command lady who I can't stand. She has like thirty different personalities. You never know which one you're going to get.

I work in a team and my teamleder's all cool. I'm also - against all odds - the vice teamleader so basically the boss when she's sick and I guess I'm pretty much the best boss you can have. Not being a dick or anything, I'm just that cool. We do though have this "section boss" who talks to much and people actually think she tries to manipulate them into revealing secrets she doesn't know of. I don't know what to think of her, since I try to avoid socializing with her. A conversation between her and me would go on like this:

boss: "HIIIIII! How are you?"
me: "Hello. I'm good."
boss: "So how's it going here?"
me: "Ok" *talks about what happened during the day*
Here, there will be a moment of silence.
boss: "So how's things going, you're all good?"
me: "Yeah it's good."
Another moment of silence, this time longer.
boss: "So how's it going here?"
me: "Well, it's going well."
Silence.. she tries another victim.

I guess I've been lucky so far. I had a boss once that killed his wife a week after I had worked for him at a store, but guess that doesn't count since it didn't really affect me. I guess you could call him pretty crazy though lol.

You know, funny about Kang.  She's not only a gamer, but was also a Business-person, last I checked, so unfortunately she's going to be like most other business people and do whatever they want and can.

If work sucks, I'd tell her that you want a fulltime/better position, given the nature of your work.  I'd also confront her.  Even though she's such a "big shot" and could blacklist you, I don't think she would, given that:

1) It's a waste of time.
2) I don't think anyone will care who she is.

People respect and know her husband.  That's a reference worth having.  But Anna Kang?  What has she done for gaming...?  Oh, she married John.  What else?

In addition, I wouldn't worry about the entire "job" thing, if you're doing pixel art.  Most pixel art is done on other applications where people won't care what id Software says.  If you went to go work on an iPhone game, etc, you could make some money.  If I'm not mistaken, our own Doppleganger is working on Flash games for a company and making an alright living.  I'm sure you could find someone who would appreciate your skills and make use of it.

Or sign on with a startup company/project if you can afford it.  Would be a quick and easy way (albeit risky) way to jump into things...

Also, that being said, Houston (just south of you by 200 or so miles) has a lot of game companies that need Pixel Art.  I believe the two most well-known down here are Pi Studios and TimeGate.  Friend actually worked for TimeGate, and another almost worked at Pi, but backed out for a consulting gig.

My boss is not very crazy, but he's quite an asswipe. Let's set up the scene:
I work at a grocery store, and I do customer service (push carts, sort empty beer, clean messes, other lame jobs).
The people I work with are super cool, and one of them is even one of my oldest friends. Often times, we get offered a day of work in another dept cause they need help, and I usually refuse because until  summer break comes up, I'd rather work as few hours as possible.
However, my friend kept saying yes, and it escalated to a point where the previous boss was milking the most hours he could from him. In 4 days he did like, 50 hours. He tried milking hours of me, but most he got was a full day where I worked scraping walls and cleaning vents.

However, on that day was also the first day of work of the new boss, which is a total complete asshole. Our store was running really bad, and so he came to help us. His first opinion of us is "Can't work for shit", so he has a really shitty view of us. He barely pays any attention to us, and whenever he does, it's never good. So I'm cleaning the vents and scraping the walls (imagine the classic "Clean the floors with a toothbrush" scenario, except not as bad, but close) and I finish, so he comes to check and as we're walking I tell him I've done a pretty good job, and all he has to say is "I doubt you've done a pretty good job, we have HIGH standards. I'll judge, but I'm pretty sure it's not very good" with the most fucking annoying tone possible. The thing here is, that dick sucker was relying on me because I was the only guy available to clean, and he wanted me to stay later than supposed to clean some more. With an asshole comment like that, I just gave him the longest face I could, and being such a dick sucker, he tried making up for it because he realized he'd been a huge dick and that he'd probably lost the only guy he had to do that job for the night. He didn't want to lose me, but he figured that out after being a giant dick.

And apparently, he went around that day telling shit and judging employees like they were junk. We all pretty much hate him now.

The worst remains his TOO GOOD FOR YOU SMALL PEONS attitude, but I guess most bosses are like that
