I got a chance to go there when I was 12. Mind you it was a mission because I was living in scarborough at the time and we were given the opportunity of a field trip once a blue moon.

kensington market is awesome if youre hungry haha. the place is live. theres way too many pho places in toronto :/

The Science Centre might be nice but it's pretty far north compared to...everything fun.

And yeah, Kensington's right around the corner from Dumpling House (it's in Chinatown, who would have guessed lol).

Casa Loma sounds cool, too, but again it's in Forest Hill (I think) so it'd be a bit far from everything else fun. Haven't been there since I was a kid actually :-o

EDIT: May 19 sounds good.

I know, we'll make a day of crashing everyone's work. Walk in, announce ourselves as your friends from the internet, and see how many get canned.

19 May works for me.

Doing the tourist-y stuff in Toronto is expensive. It cost me almost $30 just to go up in the CN Tower, and I can't imagine that anything else well-known in the city is going to be cheap to explore. We were in Kensington Market in February and I wouldn't mind exploring it more (sans 35lbs of clingy child), and I'm always up for food. Picinics are always fun but, honestly, I'm in this for the people. HOORAY GW.

Ok, let's shoot for May 19th. We can meet up at the dumpling place in Chinatown and then pay a visit to Kensington Market and then head off to wherever else after that. What's a good time for everyone to meet up at?

kensington/chinatown is also good because it's very close to all the STUFF in toronto ... and harbourfront, so if we ever wanted to go to the island..

For me, this will all depend on a) how early folk want to get out of bed, b) who I can sweet talk into sitting and c) how late we plan on being.

Sounds good. I'm okay any time, but if we want to make it worth it we should prob. meet some time before evening.

To get to Dumpling house, go to Dundas Station (Dundas and Yonge) and take the street car west to Spadina. Walk north on Spadina (North is away from Dragon City, without passing it. The restaurant is on the west side). It's a small looking place easy to miss, but there should be people making dumplings in the window.

Mamamack, dx, and I are staying overnight in Toronto now so... we will need some stuff to do during the evening and suggestions for places to stay that are cheap (but not skuzzy).

I don't know anything about tuesday but there's nightlife on monday/wednesday/pretty much everyother day.

although that depends if you like dancing/electro music/slightly smaller venues (than circa/embassy and whatnot)

otherwise i know absolutely nothing you can do other than like eat somewhere or something

If you guys are uni students you can go to the ROM for free in the early evening on Tuesday. But as for night...there's plenty of good places for dinner or drinks. The Elephant and Castle in St. Andrew's is great. I know a good karaoke bar but it's further north (near Wilson station) but the mood there's great (the food not so much). There's good clubbing on Queen West, but I'm not sure about Tuesdays so you should probably check...it really depends on what you're into.
I just checked online- the Jays are playing the Red Sox that evening, so if you're a baseball fan you could do that too.

dx is a student but Mamamack and I are not (at least not officially). Also, I meant more that the whole group of us could go somewhere, during the evening, but if people have stuff to do the next day I suppose that wouldn't work out so well. My brother lives in Toronto as well so I'll ask him if he knows of anything.

Baseball doesn't do it for me, but if it's cheap and it catches anyone else's interest, I'd be more than happy to go. Again, I'll have a go at just about anything people suggest as long as it isn't (extremely) illegal and relatively cheap.
