i don't see how that would make it harder to kill the other guy unless you like penalize them or something. moral choices in games are always really dumb because unless you can't separate fantasy from reality at all you aren't going to be like "but... but he could have been my best friend." as long as you like get points for it or whatever i'm pretty sure most people will be like "gotta rack up those kills!!" even if it was like SHOOTING NUNS: THE GAME.

Looks alright, it does look less repetitive than crackdown. This has been said many times but WOW what an annoying site.

This screams Spiderman. But I loved 2 or 3 of the spiderman games so i dunno maybe this could be good?

I really don't like games that give you the chance to roam around but send wave after wave of baddies after you as punishment or something. Like jesus GTA can't I just kill a policeman and steal his car without having to defend myself for the next half hour?

This game is out... but I don't have much money. Is it good?

EDIT: I've been looking forward to it, but I'm unsure. its got a good overall Metacritic and Gamerankings score, but IGN gave it a 7.5... and IGN seems pretty trustworthy. detail please! without spoilers! (or at least spoiler tag them)

check ign australia's take on the same game bro! they judge with a whoppin 8.5... oh the scores

In all seriousness though, I'd wager a rental first. I haven't played it but when in doubt a rental usually decides it for me!

I don't like to rent games. Having a long term time limit to play a game stresses me out. I know I should rent games to just try and see if I like them but I always turn it into a MUST RACE TO BEAT IT BEFORE TIME RUNS OUT. If I beat it I never buy the game because I already beat it, if I don't beat the game or if the game is shit I feel like a wasted ~7 bucks.

Demo's have a tendency to make a game better then it actually is. Plus I don't even think this game has a demo.

GameRankings/Metacritic has only steered me wrong once... When I bought Time Splitters 2.

I just saw a TV advert for this. I was on the fence and it really unsold me. It looked like in-game graphics but it had a pretty nasty frame rate and they just showed a regular guy walking and then jumping off a building, not showcasing anything cool. Why didn't they advertise it with him throwing a taxi at a helicopter or something?

I dunno I have been really excited about this in the build up but it just looks so mediocre and generic now.

I guess they have a tough time satisfying the cynics given that any game with a free roaming world and special powers is automatically "just another superhero game". inFamous kinda beat them to the finish line, on the PS3 at least.

Super "HERO" may a bit of a misnomer since he kills random innocents I'm pretty sure.

EDIT: then again Infamous has the whole Good Vs. Evil thing. so you can be either a hero or an asshole.

I let this game download off of Steam last night. I decided to get it for the PC because I felt that I'd probably get bored with the game if I had it on a console.

Anyway, I played it for about forty minutes before I had to get ready for work this morning and I have to say that, so far, it seems like a pretty awesome game.

The graphics are not the best at all. I've noticed that people on the streets look pretty terrible overall and buildings look pretty bland higher up, but they're fine at ground level. I don't hold these points against the game though, because you're usually moving too fast to really pay attention to those little details. The only time said, "Wow, that looks genuinely bad" while playing was when I was climbing up a skyscraper and noticed that the texture for the building just repeated the whole way up and it felt very last-gen.

Controlling Alex is a hell of a lot of fun. The game opens up with a scene that takes place 18 days after the start of the game (when you wake up in the morgue) where you have access to all of Alex's powers and you're pitted against loads of soldiers, tanks, and infected people. It's a little overwhelming to have to slaughter them all, but it's a lot of fun.

I felt that Alex came to terms with his powers too quickly. I mean, I destroyed a few helicopters (which happens as soon as you escape the morgue) and Alex simply said something like, "I cannot believe that I just did that" in a pretty lifeless tone.

The guy is pretty cool though. I've seen "emo" thrown around to describe Alex, but it doesn't fit him at all. Alex basically just wakes up and is thrust into a "WTF?" scenario and he quickly gets pissed off about it and after that, he just seems to run around with a lot of subdued rage as he tries to figure out what the hell has happened to him.

I like consuming people so far, too. It's really violent looking as Alex just thrusts his hand at their face and slams them to the ground. I can almost feel the pain that the poor people go through when he latches onto them. Bystanders literally freak out and run like hell when they see Alex consume someone and take their form. Something I liked about this was how I actually had to get away from quite A LOT of people in order for everyone to stop panicking. I had to run all the way down a long city street and round a corner before I bumped into people who weren't afraid of the shape changing murdering asshole that I was, but that was only because, you know, they didn't see me commit the act. People freak out when you revert back to Alex's form too. I consumed a bystander and walked around as them for a bit until Alex started coughing a lot and then changed back to himself, which prompted mass confusion around me as people scrambled to get away from me.

I didn't get too many powers in the forty minutes I played besides consuming, climbing, and super speed/strength. It's a lot of fun running down streets and throwing people and cars out of your way as if they're merely ragdolls.

Also the controls are pretty damn great and are very responsive.

My initial impressions tell me that this game should at least be rented by anyone interested. It's certainly a well made game.

Here, a video of me inconveniencing the Manhattan public.

Keep in mind that I'm still relatively early in the game and have few powers.

Has anyone played both this and Infamous? I really thought they were the same game until recently.

I've heard that it is a pretty short game. Looks like something I'll probably rent in the near future though!

No, you can't enter or exit vehicles. I actually consider this a bit of a good thing though, because I feel that it would affect the gameplay in a negative way.

However, you can steal tanks and helicopters from the military. I haven't upgraded Alex to be able to do that yet, though.

No, you do not always have your claws out. Moving the left analog stick will do different things. Pushing it up will bring the claws out, left toggles your disguise on and off, and down brings out your shield. Moving the stick to the right serves no purpose for me yet.
