Cool cool

I had much luck switching to Xenforo if you had the time and patience. Went from phpBB3 though.

So last year I got angry that after eighteen years of game dev I have nothing to show for it and have never finished a game. So I made one in a couple of hours and followed through with a shart of other games. They are all playable from a browser and have basic shared high scores going. Varying quality.

I would say the only good ones are Sneks and Demons, Frogge and Rudolf the Red Rose Slain Deer. But here they are.

Sneks and Demons

This is a simple Pacman clone with added mechanics. Each level introduces a new mechanic. It was made in a couple of hours and then some more levels were added. I just wanted to finish a game after 18 long, cold, dark years.

Frogge

So this is a Frogger clone, but with more cars and stuff. Pop culture references and whatnot. A bunch of stuff flies past and you have to Not get Hit Xtreme.

WaKa

So this is an actual Pacman clone for some reason but it's shit.

Monsieur le Pomme

This is a Snake clone, featuring In the Hall of the Mountain King. It gets impossible at about 99 points.

Rudolf the Red Rose Slain Deer

This uses the mechanics of Monsieur le Pomme to create a Christmas themed game. You play as Rudolf the Necroprancer, and have to bring all of Santa's dead reindeer back to life.

We've come to the consensus that 56 points is the max you can get before it gets silly.

Blocks Blocks Brevolution

This is someone else's Tetris clone script for RPG Maker VX Ace, but with my high scores system plugged in so you can play each other.

Magic Geoff

This is my current project but it is not finished and you cannot play it. Soon maybe.

Hi I just found out this place exists still hello

So my name was Wyatt? Apparently I had posts here? I don't know in what capacity I existed.

So back in 2008 I was roaming RPG Maker forums participating in much forum wars, as was the fashion at the time. I just remember that rmxp.org really, really, really wanted to be GamingW. Lived and breathed GamingW. Staff forums were like, are we GamingW yet? When is the Mainsite coming so we can be GamingW? How can we be more GamingW?

And then we became GamingW and the site died?

But yeah that's still going, it had a couple of posts this year which is nice, I might get around to reading them soon idk

But yeah.

Uh.

So I mostly hang around at RMN nowadays, I don't know how that happened.

I also grew tiddies?

But yes. Hello.

Oh and yeah game making and stuff I finally finished some games last year and they are totally playable https://www.arpgmaker.com/resources/categories/completed-games.13/?prefix_id=3

Edit to add: yeah my name is Ellie now not Wyatt

Which was a role play name from Battleon

Because I was 13

Deal with it

Guild wars nightfall collectors edition! yes they printed too many and it sells for under a tenner on amazon regularly, but mine's rare in that my sister paid full price for it as a surprise present, like, £50

Other than that probably some final fantasy shit unless the original resident evil is worth anything

I'd think I'd be wrong too, but that's what happened. My mainsite was never used, and my site was much more active when we instead focused on community events and shit.

We've had a Finished Games board for ages and how many of them have almost no (or none at all!!!) replies?

That's the thing, you don't even have staff posting in them so why are members going to join and do the same?

You need people there running and maintaining the site who actually give a fuck about the content, rather than just running the site in the background. Like, get some game reviewers to review any completed games posted. Or at least do a feature on new games every month or something.

And shit look where your completed games board is - it's a tiny subforum of a board called Advertising in a section that is in with the "dead crap". Why isn't it even in the creativity section \o_O/

That's why you have screenshots threads, update threads, staff to highlight good projects and good art, contests, and this week on gamingw.

It seems to me you've got two choices you see, 1. work with what you've got and have it up and running now, or 2. plan something big that nobody will ever use which will take years to do.

It's a community - the key is to do community things. You need community leaders not web developers if you want it to be active again.

I'm drawing on experience here, having spent a few years running a similar site. We had all kinds of mainsites and screenshot dumps and utilities and whatnot, and in the end people neither want nor use them in the long run - the site was more popular when it had staff actively working with the community doing group events and news and shit.

A great way to showcase art and gam's is to post them on a forum.

My intention is not to "act" at all, I'm just stating the legal perspective of such a move since that's one way of solving such a debate.

URL - well, is this an "official" rendition or just a spur?

The name Gaming World has a great deal of respect and memorability in "the community". I never understood why the url was gamingw though, I could never remember it lol.

gamingw.org/.com are free. gamingworld.ws is also free.

Just a quick note but there are no passwords in the database, only hashes (which, incidentally, have been salted). So don't worry, nobody knows you use dEmImOOreLuv to get into your Gmail account.

Since the salt is also stored in the database along with the hashes it's easy to get passwords out. A friend has done it before for various reasons with an SMF database; rainbow tables and tigers and brutes (oh my)

My point is merely that we submit this data to the database assuming it will never be given to anybody else.
