the last of us is probably the best game i have played this year, yeah. took me a while to beat too.

finally beat xenoblade after 2 years, two saves and 170 hours. definitely the best jrpg i have played in years. hopefully the sequel won't disappoint!

and been playing original suikoden as well, almost done with it. been wanting to replay whole series (minus suikoden 4) since it's been a while i played any of them.

i like new daft punk a lot, i think it's their best album so far. i was never really a fan of daft punk and i really had no expectations at all about the new album. i liked discovery but never really listened to it much, i find random access memories much more interesting and diverse.

i just wish they did more stuff like touch, that song is fucking awesome. doin' it right is really cool too, i actually like it more than anything panda bear has done by themselves. there are a few weaker songs but overall the album is very solid. it won't be a classic but at least it will be one of the better releases this year.

also electronica is so much more than artists like deadmau5 playing a dj set. often there's live instrumentation and you also need to be able to make some really complex production work well in a live environment. and to be honest, i don't think that even matters much. you can enjoy a live show for so many different reasons. when i saw aeroplane live back in 2010, it was one of the best shows i had been to despite it being a dj set. the set was great, the sound was just right, the show was cool and the audience was really into it. it was an amazing 2 hours! if you think i'm an idiot for paying for it, i can tell you it wouldn't have been the same listening to the set at home.

it's really cool that it's the only indie game which made the list. some games there are pretty bad but it's good press for barkley nonetheless.

used to go to my uni's gym 2-3 times a week before i broke my arm. i tried to start again a few times but my arm was still hurting so it didn't really go anywhere. it's been over two and half years since i was actively going to gym and i just recently started doing crossfit with a few coworkers. we do it 3 times a week and even though it's pretty rough, it's also fun as hell when you aren't doing it alone. alone i wouldn't be as motivated and when you are competing with other people, you'll really try your best.

i also started running in the spring though i had a few months break in fall. but now i try to run 2-3 times a week and i'm taking part in half marathon in may.

anyway, getting started with gym/running can be a bit difficult but it's definitely fun and rewarding once you start doing it. oh and even though i think it's okay to start gym on your own, after you have gotten a bit into shape it's a good idea to get some trainer to make a program for you because it's better than just randomly doing anything. having a 6 month program to follow is a good idea and it's nice to see if you'll be able to reach the goals you and your trainer set for yourself.

is anyone up for this? sundays probably work the best for me unless it's going to be really late, then friday/saturday.

pretty much the only game i have touched in the last month is far cry 3 which i got when it was released. definitely one of the best open-world games i have played. and not only is it fun as hell to play but it also has a pretty interesting cast (villains mostly though) and considering it's an open-world game, the narrative is actually quite good. when you aren't distracted by all the exploration and side-missions, pacing is spot on. it also has some rpg elements and platforming elements which is cool to have in a fps. i also like how stealth isn't downplayed and getting cool knockdown chains (basically special kills) is addicting. i haven't played many new games this year but i think fc3 is probably the best one i have played. soundtrack is nice too. it's funny how much i like it considering i thought it would be another boring, completely pointless fps until two weeks before release when i saw a preview of it. very glad i wasn't so prejudiced.

i also recall wishmoo thinking that if you post private chat logs on a public forum, you're breaking the law.

yeah, i have been around on irc although not really super active i guess. i just kinda lost interest on posting on forums. i think at some point i noticed i often started writing a post but i didn't even bother to finish it and just clicked the forum index and apathetically viewed a few topics. then i slowly lost any remaining interest and just stopped coming altogether. i think it's partly because at that point i had become much more outgoing than i was a few years ago and i was generally losing interest in spending the whole day on computer. but it's been nice, i have gotten a lot of stuff done in the last 2 years, started my own company (although it's just me), learned a lot about programming, just moved to a new place a month ago. i don't really feel like i left though since i'm actively talking to few (ex-)people here (dada, ruben, rpg, rami lmao, drule p.much daily and then the rest of irc crew occasionally). but it's nice to check out the forums again, hopefully i'll hang around on the forums too! it's seriously really cool to see so many old faces here.

i don't get how people are still interested in mgs. or how some people are borderline obsessed with it, thinking it's the best thing in gaming. mgs1 and 2 were good, i think jungle setting didn't work with mgs gameplay at all and mgs3 was ridiculously short and even somewhat boring to play. and at that point i hope no one took the story too seriously anymore.

despite not really liking mgs3, i was still anticipating mgs4 but after playing it, i will never make the mistake of honestly believing they'll release a good metal gear game again. like someone said, mgs4 had good gameplay (or rather, it could have had good gameplay) but even that was completely ruined by the absolutely horrible pacing it had. take a game like uncharted which is basically an interactive movie and remove all the interactive parts which make it work and replace them with two minutes of gameplay followed by ten to thirty minutes of cutscenes. and that's thirty minutes of watching the most convoluted and ridiculous story in the history of gaming. and the story aside, you never get to play enough to actually get into the game, and that's a huge problem here! i'm actually often one of those people who'll tell you that gameplay (at least in the traditional sense) isn't necessarily all that important in games because games can have much more going on for them but mgs4 seriously does it all wrong. i'm dead serious when i say that i don't know a single other game with such serious issues with pacing or any other game which suffers so much because of it. that and it was such a stupid move to make it completely linear. maybe if it was done well i wouldn't have minded but it wasn't, it really wasn't. i'm usually fairly easy to entertain and i'm not nearly as critical as a lot of people here are but i'm never going to get what people see in mgs4. it's not a completely awful game but it's only saved by high production values and the short fun parts of gameplay it has but that's it.

and let's not even get started with metal gear rising. ground zeroes actually looks that it could be good but after mgs4, i'm not really expecting much. and even in the trailer it was ridiculous that first you spend 10 minutes to sneak into some facility and then you just... CALL A HELICOPTER TO PICK YOU UP. and i think it was in middle of the mission too. you can call helicopter anywhere, anytime. the fuck? and yeah, i saw the trailer for phantom pain and it actually looked interesting but we have no idea what the final game is going to be like (probably nothing like the trailer) so it's pointless to even guess at this point.
