Be sure to check out John Fante - The Bandini Quartet (or more specifically, Ask The Dust) if you enjoyed Bukowski. That guy is one of the most underrated authors of all time. It's probably the best stuff I've ever read, to be honest. Knut Hamsun is also a good one, if you can get a hold of his stuff that is (try Pan or Hunger).

But yeah, seriously, check out John Fante. I can't stress this enough. I'm grateful if I can get ANYONE to read his books.

Wow, what a beautiful message... I've felt a lack of motivation during the last week or so, but this letter has certainly helped me back on track. Thank you so much for posting that, it feels good to know that steel is still making an impact on people's lives. I'll save the letter myself, and definitely do my best to live by these words.

This is absolutely horrible. I just decided to lurk some at the forums today and the first thing I saw was this. I can't say I always agreed with steel's opinions but I most definitely respected him and thought he was one of the most defining members of GW, especially throughout the last couple of years. I will definitely miss him, and even though I didn't speak to him that much, I still feel really really shitty right now.

Pretty much every sports game allows you to team up with a friend, but for best results, I advise three players on the same team in NBA Homecourt. It's brilliant.

I definitely second this (sports games in general that is). Me and my roomie have had a lot of fun with NHL 09 and normally I don't even like sports games. Other than that I have no idea. I was about to suggest Halo / Gears of War / Resident Evil 5 myself so yeah. :<

It's kind of fun that nostalgia makes pretty much anything better than it used to be. Then again I can't say I had less fun at GW a few years back; it's just that people and their hobbies change. I know I enjoyed GW a lot back then, but I can't say that I would enjoy that kind of community being the way I am nowadays. I don't miss the old GW a lot tbh, I just miss a lot of old members, wherever they are. :(

Fight Night Round 4. Very cool man, great graphics and gets quite hard toward the final but I love upper-cutting people.

I've just played the demo so far, seems promising. Fight night round 3 was pretty cool even if it was a bit too repetitive. The decaying of stats when your boxer reached a certain age was also retarded as hell. But for some reason I can't enough of watching KO's in slow-motion, so I guess I'll play Fight Night Round 4 a lot too once I get my hands on it.

Picked up Mass Effect once again; played it for a while like a year ago but then I forgot all about it for some reason (I guess I started playing some random MMO or whatever). I've just left the citadel and started to explore all the random solar systems. Too bad finding minerals / doing side-quests is kind of boring + the fact that I'm too much of a completionist to ignore it. Either that or maybe I'm just too spoiled and demanding when it comes to rpgs nowadays.

Got home from Arvikafestivalen just a few days ago. The festival isn't that huge (~20000 visitors) but the music and the audience is a weird mix of people who enjoy both synth/ebm, metal and indie so it's all good! Wicked line-up if you ask me. Favorite bands included:

Nine Inch Nails
Depeche Mode
Mind.in.a.box
Opeth
Fleet Foxes
Röyksopp
The Mars Volta
Anna Ternheim

And a few others. This is my third time at this festival and I'll probably be going there again next year! Oh and also, the best part of the whole festival was probably this dude walking around with a t-shirt that contained Budweiser's logo, but instead of saying "Budweiser - King of beers" or whatever it said "Bukowski - king of poets". That was rad as hell.

Vocal trance is the shit, definitely. I can guess I can namedrop some similar artists that I hope you'll enjoy. My all-time favorite trance producer is definitely DJ Shah (also goes under the alias Sunlounger and Black Pearl, and a few more I think). He has lots of amazing vocal trance tunes as well as just plain instrumental tunes which are just as good.

ATB has produced tons of quality tunes too. His tunes usually has a bit harder bassline than stuff like Above &Beyond, Oceanlab, and so on so I'm not sure if it's your kind of thing but give it a try.

4 strings is definitely recommended if you enjoy stuff like Oceanlab and A&B.

Some other highly recommended random tunes:

Nothing beats this one. Sunlounger - Lost comes kind of close but this is THE best trance tune I've ever heard.

One of the best trance songs and ballads at the same time.

Another great song, with some electro house influences here and there.

I have tons of other recommendations too if you wish but I guess this'll do for now. Check out http://www.di.fm/ incase you haven't already, that site got plenty of good electronica channels, and even if the forums are horrible at least you can find setlists from mixes there. Elucidate also got a bunch of excellent vocal trance mixes. I highly recommended Timeless, blue and 3AM.

Karlskrona, Blekinge

Hometown of me and Andiaz...

...also world heritage, but that's not important

I think it's hilarious that the horrible wind is mentioned in that article actually.

Angerfist - Dortmund '05. Never really enjoyed hardcore a lot before (mostly into hardstyle, ebm, trance and psytrance), but seriously... This song is an exception to the rule for sure.

It's not nearly as bad as people say it is. Even with all of it's flaws and problems it's way better than most free MMORPGs. While the content is still rather lacking the PvP is FUN and the PvE isn't that bad either. There's a serious lack of quests after about level 45 (max level being 80) but if you make it to the end game you've got two tiers of raiding. The gameplay is a lot more fun than the usual passive wait for cooldowns style all other MMORPGs seem to use.

There's also big plans for PvP system (pvp levels, criminal system etc) coming and some new zones for more quests and dungeons, but Funcom is taking their time with them (way too long...).

But if I had to recommend one of the big three (WoW, WAR and AoC) I'd currently go with WAR.

I don't know man. After all the horrible bugs in that game (like socket stacking and respeccing and dropping your profession at the same time), and the fact that they've been promising a pvp system for like 4 months now, plus the fact that their stock ratings have been going from 55 to 5 euro or whatever. Oh, and then there's also the fact that the moderators of Funcom's forums will ban you, or at least warn you for mentioning ANYTHING bad about Age of Conan. There was even a case where they edited a copy-pasted review from a Swedish site (which was copy-pasted and translated in a thread), and removed the parts where the reviewer said what he didn't like about the game. I really wanted to enjoy that game too, but after that I just pretty much lost faith in Funcom.

Experience decrease isn't what I would really want to see. Experience and renown gain really become slow after BR/RR 20/20. If anything, they should increase XP gain from scenarios (and quests). Of course they should make sure all scenarios are on average worth the same experience and renown.

Increased XP from scenarios? Are you serious? If anything a world pvp and questing xp buff would be in order.  But yeah, I do agree that they should definitely normalize the gain you get from the various scenarios.

also yeah Tor Anroc is horrible. I'm so glad that I'm playing as a squig herder so I don't get knockbacked all the time. Thankfully I'm in T4 now so no more lava!

They're shit because at the higher tiers, entire zones are practically (95%) RvR areas anyways making it completely pointless except for the lower tiers, and it prevents you from going back to those areas and filling in stuff in your Tome of Knowledge etc. i mean, the PQ's are pretty great, at Tier 2+ they start becoming more raid like but less SETUP TIME with AI that have unique moves and not so much tank & spank. all you're missing out on is maybe the first 2 tiers a LITTLE bit of extra PvP if you're just a pure PvPer but it's barely little. rly up to you but it was pretty stupid and OB serv did not change my mind on that 1 bit.

Yeah, that kinda sucks. I know I'd probably roll on a core server if not pretty much everyone I know decided to go open rvr. :<

I'll be playing on Shifting Isles (open rvr) with a bunch of irl friends / other random mmo:ers if anyone cares. Otherwise it seems like everyone's going separate ways in this mmo once again. > Oh well, for once I'm actually really really looking forward to an mmo so that's good news.
