The end theme from the movie Cast Away... Or Pussyfoot by Sikth, just because it's awesome.

Pretty much anything by Pelican or the entire () album by Sigur Ros would be cool too.

Man, I don't care about what anyone says about Killswitch Engage, but Howard Jones has the sexiest man voice ever. Symphony X is quite possibly my favorite progressive metal band ever, I suggest anything off their album Paradise Lost. Nevermore is pretty good too in my opinion, they have an amazing guitarist but the vocalist gets annoying really fast. Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment if you're into old school prog metal. If you prefer death metal-ish stuff, Quo Vadis (the drumming in Silence Calls the Storm is absolute class), Bury Your Dead, Arsis (anything on a Celebration of Guilt has amazing riffing) and Parkway Drive. Im also very fond of Blind Guardian and Demons & Wizards (ewww power metal I know I know).

I also couldn't help but notice that Strapping Young Lad and Protest The Hero are both relatively well known Canadian metal bands.... well, in Ontario anyway. Check out 3 Inches of Blood and Into Eternity sometime.

indie, alternative, and rock

First band that came to mind when I read this was Deas Vail, which just so happens to be one of my favorite alternative indie rock bands ever. Absolutely beautiful music. I also agree with with anyone who said The Mars Volta; they are crazy amazing and even if you aren't too sure about them at first, they will grow on you. Other than most of the bands that have already been mentioned, I also suggest:
Sparta
The Alkaline Trio
Andy Mckee (If you've ever even touched a guitar at any point in your life, you will appreciate this guy. Check him out http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ddn4MGaS3N4)
Billy Talent
Circa Survive (I find that they sound very similar to Coheed and Cambria.... Might just be the high pitched vocals)
Hundred Reasons
Rush

This really isn't that impressive. I mean yeah holy shit that thing is huge and all, but still... He shot it eight times, pwned it in the face and the thing stopped being alive. That's what usually happens when you use guns. He also had back-up from his father + guides with high powered rifles.

Now, if it was some epic battle where he only had like, a machete, a hatchet or even a bow (though extremely unlikely, this would have been crazy epic). Hell, if he killed the thing on his first or at least 2nd shot, that would have been impressive. But he emptied out a revolver on the poor bastard then point-blanked it. Where's the honor in that?
