-MIDI composer- I have a friend of mine working on MIDIs already, but he isn't the most, shall I say, time-efficient composer in the world. So if anyone's interested in this, please please please let me know.

When you have a computer that crashes every half-hour you'll understand why you haven't been given any music yet.
I'm getting a new Mac in the next few weeks, you'll have your music by January.

Similar themes and features commonly found in that franchise?  So if I make a game about overpopulation, should I put Soylent Green in the title?  What you're saying makes no sense.  There is nothing unique about Final Fantasy's themes, and there are a babillion games out there with the same themes and features.  Most of those don't have Final Fantasy in the title.  By putting that in there, you are saying "I can't make my own thing".  Why would you want to disprove the stigma against fangames by making an unrelated game and tacking Final Fantasy in the title?  No, it's that every kiddo wants to make their own Final Fantasy instead of using their little noggins to make something completely original, and by tagging their game as Final Fantasy they can rehash the same old shit by saying "well of course I reused all of this it's Final Fantasy".  There is also a predetermined audience out there, which means less work for their lazy asses because people will play anything with Final Fantasy in the title.  You think it doesn't make any difference?  Then why not remove it from the title to a) set yourself apart a bit and b) prove that you're not getting attention solely based on the words Final Fantasy in your title.  A good game's title makes no difference.  Shadow of the Colossus would be just as good of a game if it had been called Final Fantasy: Shadow of the Colossus, but there's a very good fucking reason why it wasn't called that:  it is it's own thing.  This is the problem in the RPGmaking community, very few people want to make their own thing when they can just remake the same old shit.

You want to prove that your game is good underneath the Final Fantasy title?  Ditch it then.  Otherwise you're just telling the world that your game can't stand on its own two feet.

Let me begin by stating I'm not the creator of this game, just the composer...

Back to your post, your counterargument doesn't seem to make much sense. I think you failed to understand what I meant (or maybe it was poor wording on my behalf) when I said "similar themes" (perhaps I should have said staples... such as moogles, chocobos, crystals, etc.). For that reason it's under the Final Fantasy name, not because he's afraid the game couldn't "stand on its own two feet." And your pretty much contradicting your whole issue with this game (not the maker, mind you) by saying "a good game's title makes no difference." If that's true, then why are you making such a big deal of it?

Also please respond to this:
Think of it this way: does adding those two words make your game any better?

It's a Final Fantasy fan-game, it has similar themes and features that are commonly found in said franchise.
No, calling it Final Fantasy will NOT make it better, however, it addresses the project as a fan-game.
Furthermore, just because he's "hiding" under a licensed franchise does not mean he isn't putting
forth any effort into making this game. He wants to disprove people when they say, "Final Fantasy fangames
suck and they're completely unoriginal."

Did he overreact to the criticism... yes. Did you guys overreact to the title and the lack of music (which I had
already taken the blame for since I'm the composer)... yes. But calling him a child really makes some of you
seem like hypocrites, in a sense. I mean, you're not necessarily doing anything better, aside from certain uses
of curses.

If the music hasn't been composed yet, you um... maybe could have said that.

He did.

The opening to my game. I'm quite excited. =D

Sorry about the lack of music, my composer *COUGHCOUGHLOWCALORIEPIECOUGH* hasn't been doing JACK SHIT for me. Greedy bastard. And after I saved you from starvation off the streets! :)

Annnnyway, enjoy. And please comment.

also dude youre a dick why don't you put some shitty music over your shitty intro for a shitty final fantasy fangame instead of being an ass who makes final fantasy fangames.

I haven't composed music yet. That's why there is none. >_>
Wow... all this complaining over no music...

Or you can convert the composed MIDIs to mp3. The converted files usually sound nice.

Well, as they also say, try pleasing everyone and you'll end up pleasing no one.

But when you're talking about the overall quality of the mapping, you can please everyone.
It's not like anyone will hate your revised maps because they're too good.

But thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it, even if I don't agree with it.

As they say, the consumer is always right.

Just in case anyone was wondering: this is how you answer questions and criticisms about a game being related to Final Fantasy! You'll notice arcanedude didn't tell a single person to shut up. Incredible!

It's quite sad that we need to say that to begin with.

Flapjack is what killed One Piece. :( Curse you, CN, and your one pirate-related cartoon policy!
I don't think Flapjack should be considered "pirate-related."  :tsk:

This was probably one of the only shows that didn't overact much. Not to say that they didn't at some points but a lot less than expected.

I was just curious if anyone has watched this JDrama. I'm normally not one to watch these sort of shows but my friend recommended it to me. I was hooked after the first episode (it's a fairly short series, only 11 episodes).

Quote
Michi, a 26 year old high school math teacher, tentatively accepts her boyfriend's proposal of marriage, uncertain of her love for him but feeling pressure from her father and society to do what is expected of her. Hikaru, a 17 year old boy frustrated by his home life with his single mother and having been expelled from many high schools for bad behavior, enters Michi's class as a new transfer student. As their relationship grows they realize that they both feel that they have lost themselves to the pressures of those around them, and it is this common bond that draws them dangerously close. What follows is a heart-wrenching story of forbidden love where Michi must face society's judgement for corrupting a minor, abandoning her fiance, and disappointing her parents and co-workers.

I would have been totally ok with a hype trailer.

I know.  I'm worthless.

So would I. It would at least tell us that they're working on a new title.

Nintendo just revealed GTA: Chinatown.  I just finished watching their press conference on Gamespot. GTA coming to DS

Not too much of a surprise seeing that GTA has been on most consoles already.

wii sports resort looks kinda cool but fuck nintendo they didn't announce a new zelda

seriously they promised that "the hardcore fans will be pleased" fuck!!!

Damn Nintendo executives and their lack of making an obscure Zelda trailer that is all hype and tells us nothing!!!
