Hey guys,

Thought you'd all like to know that Forever's End is getting its own original soundtrack!

I'm receiving help from a really talented composer by the name of Jose Moreno, aka CastorOnline, who has offered to help me for a very reasonable price. Jose is a Mexican composer whose experience includes transcribing partitures, making arrangements for school orchestra, composing the Chrono Trigger Medley performed in cafe iguanas at 2009, composing many themes for various independent games, and composing music for local filmmakers (short films). I was really impressed with his style after listening to his older works; and seeing as I was looking for a composer for my game, I decided to snatch him up before some other user got the chance. In less than a week, he's already finished four songs for me, and I think they're fantastic.

Here are three songs that he has already composed for the game:

You can check out every song he's composed for Forever's End by clicking HERE and get updates when Jose posts new songs by subscribing to his video page HERE.

I've also gone ahead and created an OST tab on RMN's main gamepage that has all of the songs he's created for FE, which I will update periodically. I'm really happy with what he has composed so far, and I look forward to continue working with him. I've heard a lot of people say that my game's music was too recognizable and could really improve from a custom soundtrack. Hopefully, these new songs will help improve the game's image and its originality in the eyes of the player.

In addition, Jose is also making his own RPG Maker game in VX called Emerald Chronicles: Castor Wars. It isn't currently in English, but the main characters are beavers, and that should be enough incentive for any gamer. You can check it out HERE.

Let's all show Jose some love.

So last month, Fallen-Griever was nice enough to re-review my game based on the new demo. For those of you who are interested, here is what he thought:

Dude, this game is too enjoyable for you to just cancel. It looks like a lot of hard work went into making it (those hand-drawn cutscenes are phenomenal). I'm not sure whether you've just lost the motivation to work on this or just don't have time anymore, but this game is too pretty and too awesome to just be given up on. Please finish it!

Oh, and the soundtrack is ballin'.

Gotcha- let me know if you need any more help in the future. *Goes to see if he still has the old save file* Whoops- guess I erased it. Well, I'll just play through the 60% version when it comes in. BTW, did you run through the working version of my edit to test it out?

I did, indeed. I ran into a few issues, but I was able to fix them for the most part. I've already implemented a few of your dialogue changes into the main copy of the project.

There isn't really any need to replay the demo if you have already beaten it. The story is essentially the same, I just cleaned up some things and got rid of some of the useless files (I didn't take out any of the original songs). I haven't included any of your changes yet, and I probably won't until the next release (which will probably be at the 60 % percent completion mark; I'm at about 25 % now).

Version 1.1 of the demo is now up. I fixed most of the bugs people brought to my attention and added a few other goodies (like a Scan Crystal ability for Goldo and some prettier inside maps). Oh, and the file size is a bit smaller than before (finally below 100 mb! Woohoo!).

Hey, thanks a lot Terrorantula! Yeah, I have also encountered the sound effect issue. I don't know what it is really, I keep trying to figure it out (if anyone knows, please let me know!). I can't believe I missed some grammatical errors, I'm usually so good at that!  :(  Sorry about the Namu Pass exit, I just went and fixed it now.

The problem with RM Tool is that it ends up deleting files that I actually need to play the game. This happened last time I released a demo, and when I tried it again this time, I found it did the same thing; so I tried my best to do it manually, although there are still quite a few files that probably could be deleted.

Thank you for playing and giving feedback! I appreciate your request for help and I may take you up on that offer (I could definitely use an extra hand).

*Has just started playing* Actually I LIKE the way Farnstein forces the monster hunting on the player- It gives the impression of a hard-nosed researcher who insists people help him with his research- whether they like it or not! I say keep it!

Yeah, that's what I was going for. I think I'll keep it, but I will at least add an option that allows the player to skip Farnstein's long explanation about it. Players can still read about it later in the Hunting Guide if they're interested.

Haven't;t played it yet, but explaining at least once is a good idea. I'd suggest , however, avoiding making it too easy to tell whether a chest holds a special item or an ordinary one as it could invite cherry picking.  I'll reserve any further comments until after I play.

Yeah, it mainly gives the player something to shoot for. Ordinary items are just as important as rare ones in this game.

One thing I did notice was at the begining of the game your told that ordinary items are in red chests and special items in other coloured chests yet the first legendary crystal is in a red chest! Not particlarly important but it struck me as an odd choice...

Haha, I didn't think about that. Yeah, I should probably change that. The monster hunting isn't necessary so you can skip it all together if you really want to (though you will miss out on some cool items in addition to some additional help against bosses and regular enemies). I'm thinking I may add another layer to the system and allow the player to challenge other NPCs to battles using only monsters for both sides, but I'm still not sure.

Anyway, thanks for giving it a chance, and I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Eliminator just recently posted an extremely well written review for Forever's End, so I thought I'd share it to anyone who is deciding whether to download the game. It's a great review that covers near every facet of the game. Note that there are a few minor plot spoilers (nothing too major though).

Thanks for the feedback, james. It doesn't sound like you got very far into the game, but I appreciate you giving me a telling me your advice from what you've played. I actually did compress the music, there is just a large number of Mp3 files used (about 43 I think), so it's actually a lot less than it could have been. I only know the internet aliases of the people who helped me, and I plan to keep it that way. I don't want to put people's real names all over the web. In truth, I'm not terribly comfortable putting my own name out there.

Yeah, I will definitely cut down the dialogue with Farnstein about monster hunting. I'll probably just give the player a choice whether they want to hear the explanation or not.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks james. Hope you get the chance to play it. I know the download size is relatively large.

:D Thank you. Glad to hear it.

One thing I want to know that I really haven't heard much about is what do you think of the monster hunting sidequest? It took me forever to code it, and I was just wondering if anyone has found it enjoyable.

Man, sorry about that. No one else has had that problem before. Well, I'm glad you were able to play through it for the most part. I'm just surprised it didn't do it to you on . Lag aside, how are you liking it so far?

Oh yeah, well I'm afraid I don't have that, but I still urge you to give it try. You may still enjoy it!

Well, this is the only time I have heard of lagging issues so I wouldn't worry about it, and I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "non-adventure battle system."
