As noted by PS3Trophies.org, it appears that more Borderlands DLC is imminent. The five recently added Trophies point to three coliseums, called The Angelic Ruins, The Gully and Hell-Burbia, all of which appear to have "lesser" and "larger" challenges.

Eurogamer mentions that Borderlands Creative Director Mikey Neuman was all set to reveal something on Twitter, but it appears the marketing powers changed the announcement to a "later occasion." Publisher Take-Two seems happy with the success of Borderlands and critical reception to the game's first DLC pack, The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned. Reaching out to 2K Games about the DLC, we were informed, "No official announcements have been made regarding future Borderlands DLC at this time."

Yes but most shooters provide arguably better narrative and more varied locales/enemies. Borderlands barely has a cutscene or story after the opening segments, and you fight raiders/skags for hours and hours.

okay you are probably right i don't know because i haven't played it yet and i'm only torrenting it now, but like was it really advertised as being like some crazy plot oriented game?  like  I don't recall it being in any form, and didn't have that impression from any of what i saw of the advertising of the game.

No I wouldn't say it was, but then all I ever saw buzz about was the number of weapons in the game.

A year or so ago I just heard it was an open ended sci fi shooter with lots of co-op emphasis. I don't think they ever sold it as an epic story.

You can get into the level editor through some hex editing trickery. Noones made anything good though.

Story doesn't suck, per se, it just wasn't pulled off very well.

I just wish they had had cutscenes, cause as I can see from the Brothers in Arms series Gearbox do know how to make relatively good stories and cutscenes.

The ending was pretty awful, really.

Yeah but I've had a think about it, and a lot of the ending (the idea behind the ending) seems really subtle.

For instance:

I just think the story and ending were pulled off badly.

Considering it's apparently going to become one of 2Ks major series' we'll see what happens in a sequel a couple of years down the track.
With the awful reception Borderlands recieved, the likelihood of a sequel is pretty slim.

What makes you think it was an awful reception when a lot of high profile games were pushed till next year, and 2K themselves have already announced that because of Borderlands sales they are making it one of their
major series' and that we can expect a sequel?

Source:  http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/105/1052016p1.html

"During Take-Two's financial call this afternoon, CEO Ben Feder expressed enthusiasm for the long-term outlook of its hit new shooter franchise, and hinted at possible sequels going forward."

"We have long term publishing rights to sequels of Borderlands and expect this to become a key franchise for Take-Two," he stated.

"Gearbox announced recently the game became the fastest selling new title of 2009. "

The final boss was beyond crap in every way, they put no effort into it at all.

People are frustrated with some aspects of it, but the 360 version at least has a solid online playerbase, and those playing it seem to enjoy it. it's got some definite problems that a sequel might address but it's by no means whatsoever a failure.

and like someone else said, it's selling extremely well.

If Gearbox listens to the gripes, they could make a fantastic sequel. Vehicles need serious work, they need a lot more enemy variety, the towns and general world could use a little more life and did I mention they need more enemy variety? But the basics are there, so is the potential, and I still find this pretty addicting despite the flaws.

Here's how I see it. Borderlands was a damn good game when it first came out and EVERYONE was talking about it. But the hype dies down and people start to realize it was never all that fantastic. The story is absolute shit, and when you get into co-op with all your friends no one pays attention to the story at all. I don't feel like reading all the quests. I just mash buttons, accept random quests, and follow the waypoints.

The gameplay and replay value of it all is still great of course. It gets pretty boring after awhile having to go back and forth between locations and all the driving you have to do toward the middle of the game. But other than that it's good.
