is anyone a fan?
i was looking for a song and hyperballad came up and i remembered how much i used to like bjork back in the day. i heard a bit off her medulla album and it was a bit off so i kinda lost track of her! also i grew up i suppose, but she's still got a lot of really good tracks. evidently she released another album in 2007 which went completely under my radar, but i don't listen to music much anyhow so no big surprise!

i've heard a few groups that are similar sounding that i've dug, minuit and the knife namely. vocally at least; i'm almost certain minuit aims to imitate (there was a bjork reference in one of their videos). the knife is pretty fantastic but they have a fair few songs that sound really off-key, which can get grating. i haven't found anyone as consistent as bjork [was] is what i'm saying i suppose

I like how a lot of her songs are just totally out there.  She has a lot of songs that are unlike any other artists.

I just can't listen to an album of her's all the way through.  A song here and there is fine, but some of the music is so jarring.

The Earth Intruders video was pretty awesome.  Then there was that one where she had a shaved head.

I kind of like everyone else from Iceland better than her now

well Sigur Ros is pretty boring now but I need to look up more of Mum's albums because the one I got is awesome

I think a lot of the fun of her music is that she's so weird because when I want to listen to her stuff I usually watch the music video that goes with it

Edit: It's like I don't know too many tracks of hers I like that aren't also music videos

yeah i know what you mean, but she's got a lot of music videos too. i think there's some that kinda RUIN the song, bachelorette is probably my favourite song by her but i hate the video because it doesn't seem to mesh. also there's some dumb music videos, venus as a boy was a bad song with a bad video imo. and there's a one that seems to stretch on forever where a string of colour crawls in and out of her face

Hey, which album of Mum do you have?  I have one of them too, and liked a few songs from it, but I haven't heard any of their other songs.

all i can remember off of medula is submarine, which was alright. the whole album seemed really kitschy and instead of showing off the range of human voice it seemed to show a very low limit. they should have gotten michael winslow instead of dokaka or whoever

I've always felt like I should really like Bjork more than I do. Not cos she's renowned or anything, she just seems like the kind of thing I thought I was really into. Warm snowy electronica stuff. Or at least the album I have is...Vesperia I think it is called. Anyway it just bores me a bit! Her voice is fine but I don't really think it's all that special, and her melodies are usually just so middle of nowhere. Maybe Vesperia is just a boring album. I'd be open to listening to more of her but I think she is just a bit boring.

To be honest, as much as I am a huge Bjork fan, I am much more so a Sugarcubes fan.  I suppose it's because they're more exciting and YOUTHFUL or whatnot, but I tend to listen to them more than Bjork's solo things nowadays, and usually her regular songs I tend to go for are from Debut which is more Sugarcubes-like than her future albums.  This doesn't mean I don't like her any more, it just means I really, really like The Sugarcubes.  Motorcrash, Planet, Hit, Water, Birthday, Eat the Menu...they're just all really enjoyable songs!  That being said, there's very little of Bjork's work that I don't like, but it definitely exists.  I wasn't a big fan of Volta at all, though Earth Intruders was really dang good.  Also I get what climbtree is saying about Medulla, but it took quite a while to grow on me.  Triumph of a Heart is the best of the album I think, though.

In conclusion:  The Sugarcubes A+++ Bjork A++
