Wow, a lot of replies. Well, I checked in on the thread before I went to bed last night, and tried some stuff, and it was kind of successful.
First of all, I took the pillow that's been in the rooms only tiny pillow, letting a leeeetle bit of light leak into the ream. Why was there a pillow in the window? I don't know. Second, I put my alarm a good distance from my bed. I was able to wake up with the alarm at 10:00am today, but I will have to test this further to see if it's reliable. I had to fight the overpowering urge to ignore the alarm and I'm not sure if my willpower is strong enough.

The reason I stay up until 2:00-3:00am is because I don't get tired until around that time, and if I try to go to bed before I get tired I end up laying there for 2 hours and getting aggravated that I can't fall asleep. I don't want to take sleeping pills or anything to remedy this, I'd rather just fall asleep when I'm tired.

@Evil Bob: My bed is literally a mattress on the floor, so no matter where I put it I have to stand up, basically. (Unless I put it on the floor, I guess)

@Climbtree: you're right, I really do not have anything to do all day, but if I sleep too late, like Dada, I will have a headache and just feel really bad throughout the day. Generally if I get more than ~8 hours or so of sleep I will wake up with a headache.

@Coxswain: I can't drink coffee. I've tried and it's just not possible for me to drink more than a few sips. Stuff is nasty. Also, I've quit drinking soda/caffeine in general recently, and my house isn't well-stocked with that kind of stuff. I don't know any 'healthy things' that help you wake up, though!

So here's my plan: I'm going to continue setting my alarm about 5 ft away from my bed, on top of my dresser, and see how effectively that works. If that fails, I'm going to try to find myself a way to get to sleep faster (without pills!) so I don't have to stay up until 3:00am (maybe exercising more will help me with that? I do try to go outside and do things for about an hour every day).

Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys!

yeah this is pretty much exactly how i am too. i think more exercise and activity during the day might help? i need to try it. i am not a morning person at all but i hate that i sleep in so late whenever i'm given the chance to. i want to sync up my hours of activity with other people and with school (although woot its summer so lol who cares). i will work on it someday. as for now, i have had 3 hours of sleep in the last 40 hours >_<
semper games.

If you workout everyday for about an hour you will definitely sleep well at night! Just make sure you don't do it right before you go sleep because you get too hot!

No, I can't really sleep with any distractions like that. Noise, flickering lights, it's just too much.
Okay, so today I set my alarm for 10:00am (I actually stayed up a bit later than normal so I probably should have set it later), and woke up for the alarm BUT apparently I turned it off and set it back for 10:30am, at which point I did wake up and took my shower/take care of my rabbit and I've been up and un-tired since. Maybe if I can somehow make myself reset my alarm every morning??
Or maybe just put a little more effort into my hour of outside time...

I try to always sleep at 23:00 and get up at 7:00. I cannot deviate from this pattern. If I sleep any longer than that I'll have a headache for most of the day.

This is about my schedule exactly. I almost NEVER sleep past 8, can't even remember sleeping past 8:30 in like the last 2-3 years. I generally hit the sack sometime between 11 and 12, and am up by 7AM or 7:30.

I'm kind of a boring old man though, like my favourite things about mornings is a cup of coffee while I read the news online. I actually look forward to it. :(

I think a HUGE factor in my waking up early though, is my bedroom. It's located in a very sunny corner, and the sun generally falls around my bed around that time I get up. Once it gets bright, I can't sleep, and my blinds don't block out a lot of light.

Because of this adherance to schedule, even staying up to 3 or 4AM means I'll still wake up sometime a little after 7. My body just snaps awake at that time.
