that's a coincidence, i just replayed it today for the first time in a while. i still like it a lot but this time what hit me was the ridiculous amount of rpg detail throughout the whole game, like the little pool shaped like a cross in kobe bryants tomb or suddenly realising that the song that plays after you beat jordan is a slowed-down midi version of 'sweet georgia brown'.

anyway i'm playing the original tomb raider game now. d-don't judge me.. if jamie can watch the x files for some background feeling of weird mysteries then i can play tomb raider to wander around strangely textured lo-res crypts filled with awkwardly shambling yetis and dinos...
the controls are annoying, especially the jump stuff, but i kind of like the strange level design. the first level is filled with really jarring and obvious holes and corridors in places you can't get to but think maybe you could if you tried, or strange floor angles made of packed ice, and lots of nooks and crannies that don't do anything. the movement/jumping stuff makes it more of a chore to navigate through than it has to be but it still feels uh distinctly unlike any other game environment made of just crisscrossing paths and so on. maybe thats just me or there's a ton of games which did it better which i haven't played but i can't think of much offhand aside from like isolated moments in n64 shadows of the empire icelevels or something. also idk strange open spaces of sudden carefully detailed lowpoly vine/shrub textures in a ruined temple/cavern place. narrow corridors suddenly opening up to huge + weirdly elaborate multileveled rooms. theres a continuing sense of it being just a little stranger and more evocative than it really should, considering.
the first tomb raiders are good. I played the first two ps2 ones two, including the remake of the first game, and I remember them being pretty good too. far better at creating an interesting environment, a sense of exploration, and utilizing 3-dimensional space than something like New Vegas, for example. disregarding what's obvious about these games, I mean

what is so great about the witcher? I bought it a couple years ago and quit playing it before I got too far because I thought it was lame. Now I'm trying to play it again because I see it name dropped here the dialogue sucks and so far it seems pretty samey ye ol' knights rpg to me.

I want to play elderscrolls oblivion when I get home. Reading about skyrim has made me wanna play it on my xbox.

what is so great about the witcher?

You can fuck pixeltits and get rewarded with cards for doing so.

Love me a game where you can see a little ankle from time to time.

Beat Call of Pripyat. Gameplay-wise and stability-wise it's the best STALKER game. (though those both may be because I played with the complete mod this time)

Story-wise its better than Clear Sky. Not quite as good as SoC but close.

Steam isn't reporting my hours on the game accurately though. I've put in WAAAAY more than 6 hours, more like 30-50.

I got LBP and Wipeout HD for my free games.  Got bored with LBP pretty quick but Wipeout HD is pretty fun.

I also got Rock Band 3 and Def Jam Rapstar.  Having trouble locating instruments (which is the main reason I got Def Jam Rapstar now instead of waiting until later--I needed the mic), but singing is pretty fun.  I only played Def Jam Rapstar for a few minutes since it's more something goofy to play with my friends instead of something I play alone in my apartment but RB3 is pretty dang fun and I wish I had gotten into these games ages ago.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Definitely the best of the 3 main games released so far.

dammit vellfire you should have gotten dead nation. It's actually pretty fun to play with people, I was just playing with random people but it'd be fun for two people who have mics and are not idiots. any body else with PS3 and Dead Nation hit me up I'll play with ya.

PSN ride_spirals

Also Bad Company 2. I've been playing that a lot, it' s pretty damn fun. I have a bunch of friends from reddit that I can play with so we'll have 2 or 3 fully cooperative squads in a game and mostly just dominate. It's good stuff.

Oh and in much more exciting news I think I finally got System Shock 2 working... on a Virtual Machine running Win2k.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

I would have but I am so sick of zombies and wasn't that into them to begin with!!!  The only zombie game I wanna play is Typing of the Dead, period.

I like zombies. I've always liked them. My only issue is that slow typical zombies are generally to easy to deal with combat wise and they are far to common in video games. And that none of the zombie games seem to deal with more survival elements rather than combat. Stuff like finding food, fortifying structures, making zombie killing contraptions/vehicles (though as I understand that's sort of in Dead Rising 2).

Dead Island might actually have these things I hope.

I read that post of yours warpped and it made me realise you perhaps don't know about Project Zomboid: www.projectzomboid.com

It's pretty much that, total survival. Finding food, barricading doors and windows to keep safe at night, crafting items to help out against the zombies. All bundled up in little Amiga styled isometric graphics. Very cool.

Oh and it's in Alpha at the moment, and is working on a model much like Minecraft does.

picked up child of eden. i really dislike it, bordering on STRONGLY disliking it. i find the music jarring and unpleasant, the visual presentation a bit of an eyesore, and the way they're telling the story really foolish and irritating.

definitely more for sensory deprived kinect people than rez fans, but that might just be my opinion. rez was a real rush, but this game just gives me pretty awful vertigo.

not usually a good sign if you're looking to see how much it sells for just a few hours after buying it.
