Yeah I preordered it a while ago. I'll definitely be playing this weekend, helping people out with co-op.

Anybody with PS+ (not sure if any 360 players have access or what) play CounterStrike: GO yet? I'm gonna give it a try in a little bit. I have no intention or desire to buy this game (though isn't it only like $15?) but I'm gonna see what it's like. I never played CS after Source came out, I was mostly a 1.5 player and once 1.6 came out I kind of starting drifting away from CS, and once CS:S was out I was done playing completely.

But as far as FPS games go I pretty much only play Gotham City Imposters, because it's as good as any FPS really (it actually plays almost exactly like COD, at least COD when it was still good (MW and MW2)) but it has a bunch of silly/fun stuff (like freeze guns and spring boots and gliders and crap like that). My brother and I play that quite often, it's fun.

Yeah, MW3's multiplayer was extremely dull in comparison to the past releases. Every map felt the same, and some weapons were straight up worthless. Perks were either derivative of past titles or just kind of weak.

However, I loved the Specialist Kill Streak class and hope it'll make a come back. Its the only thing I'd miss from MW3.

CS:GO looks like fun though. And I technically have the money to buy it but I'd still get my ass handed to me by old CSS players and I have a fuck load of other games I want to play that I already own :P and my relatively thin wallet and understanding that the players WILL BE THERE basically forever (there are still a decent number of 1.6 players) I'm in no rush to buy it.

When I have the time as of late I'm usually playing Oblivion still.

Wait, MW3 or CS:GO? I initially figured MW3 but thinking about it I'm not completely sure that is what you were saying.

I should also say I played Black Ops for the first time after playing MW3 and liked it more despite it being 'last years model', (except that it lacked the Specialist Class, seriously, unlocking perks as a kill streak is the best kind of kill streak)

Also, Black Ops 2 looks good actually. I've always liked Treyarch and never really understood people shitting on them, even during the whole WaW fiasco. I liked WaW. (I've never played CoD3 though, and apparently it was considered bad)

Why is CS:GO total garbage?

Well for one thing it doesn't work the way any FPS game works. You can't aim down the sights, which is just weird. All the buttons are kind of strange (pressing L1 takes out your knife, and you have to press triangle to get your gun again). Movement feels very float and imprecise. It just didn't feel good to play. It's like playing on the PC with mouse smoothing, everything just feel wrong. I imagine most of my complaints would be invalidated if I played with a keyboard and mouse, but that's dumb, why would I play KBM with a console? I dunno, I thought it was trash. I played like 10 rounds and then deleted the game.


Might be worth playing on the PC (In fact I think it's cross platform, so you could play a game with people from PC, XBOX and PS3 at the same time, which is "neat" but definitely not worth buying a game for), but not on consoles, it's awful.


edit: also I should note that I took a couple percocets yesterday and those tend to make me think everything is terrible so while it might not be as "garbage" as I first thought, I don't think it's very good at all.

Lacking ADS (Aim Down Sights) is a necessity for counter strike. Namely because that's become sort of part of the way counter strike is played. Which is something I'm torn about. I actually prefer having the ability to ADS but most would argue that it isn't counter strike with ADS. Just like Halo wouldn't be Halo with ADS.

As for the knife thing, its the same issue as ADS. That just how its mechanics are. Its fan base would revolt if they changed these things too. Just like they did when Valve tried to fix a bug pertaining to the AWP that made it ridiculously OP and the fans had a hissy fit.

BTW, this is me speaking from an outsiders PoW since I've played a grand total of about 5 hours playing CSS. But yeah most of these issues would be less of a problem on PC probably.

Also the Cross Platform thing was ditched. I think it was because console players couldn't compete.

Just tried Dark Souls for the pc... looks and feels terrible, cant figure out the controls either. This game looks to be impossible to play with a mouse and keyboard. Had to spend an extra £20+ for a controller, so will wait for that to arrive before I try again but on the whole this game ported over to the pc seems to be somwhat of a disaster.

They made no effort with this, I already regret purchasing this for the pc... should have gone with the console version.

Definitely use a controller, the KB+M is completely unplayable. Everything else is pretty good though, however I've had a really hard time summoning people. I did manage to summon 2 people for the first boss, and 1 person for the second (even though there were like 8 signs just outside the gargs, every one I tried ended up failing, tried like 10 times and said fuck it, just 2-manned it). But yeah I wonder what's up with that. Still not a bad port, just a couple things that seem to be wrong (turn of AA and motion blur I found helpful), the mouse thing is kind of hilarious, though there is a fix somewhere that addresses some things. If you ever wanna try summoning/co-op I'm up for it, just gotta be within Soul Level range of each other, could be fun.


Also considering I've played it on a PS3 controller, using the 360 controller on the PC is weird. I feel like the normally-bad L/R button on the PS3 (like the L2/R2 being terrible rounded buttons instead of nice triggers) actually help in the game, as you tend to "roll" between the two (both L and R) rather than using L2/R2 as a "trigger", like in an FPS or something. Just kinda strange. Also while I think technically the sticks are superior on the 360 in how they're designed and how they feel, once you've gotten used to the PS3 controller it just feels weird and has a strange adjustment period.


Anybody plan on playing Guild Wars 2? I looks pretty neat, I mean graphically it's amazing I guess, and content/gameplay-wise it looks very good. But I'll have a hard time trying that game, since at the end of the day it's still an MMO. But after a few weeks maybe if it's still pretty favorable I might buy it, since it's not a monthly fee kind of thing which is the WORST part of MMOs. I honestly don't mind the grind and kinda-boring combat, but the monthly fee just changes the entire thing to this, necessarily efficient grind-a-thon. Totally ruins them. But yeah, I'll have a hard time justifying that game since what'd be the point, but who knows. Looks very cool, like a nice RPG or whatever. blegh.
