How graphics card intensive/CPU intensive is the game?  I'm still using my old mbp from 2008 (2.4c2d with 8600GT 256mb) for everything.  Like its running skyrim and everything fine at native resolution, but I get the feeling from screenshots/etc that I've seen of dark souls that it is probably a lot more intensive than something like skyrim or ME3.

There's not a lot of graphics options in the game (it's a straight console port), but it is capped at 30fps I believe. Not sure to be honest.

Oblivion still. Playing through the last Thieves Guild Quest. Getting a little weary of going through really long dungeons full of loot I can't carry near the end.
I don't know if everyone agrees with me, but at least my friends and I thought the Thieves Guild questline was the best part of Oblivion. I thought the way you're kept in the dark about why you're getting those items and the payoff, as well as the last dungeon were really great. Skyrim's Thieves Guild questline is just so mediocre it's sad.

The ending to the thieves guild was spoiled for me (my own fault). But yeah it was pretty good despite that. I was just annoyed at the ridiculously long periods of time I was locked out of the outside world being unable to keep my loot because I lacked the strength to carry it all near the end because it kept piling up. This made me skip large swathes of areas because I was both sick of killing wraiths and skeletons and such and didn't have room to carry extra loot anyway.

Also all the guards hate me now lol and they basically loved me before "You... You're the hero of Kvatch!" or "You're the arena grandmaster! This is such an honor."

Now its "This better be good." or "What do you want scum?"

Playing the Knights of the Nine next. heard it clears your infamy up and the thieves guild was the only quest line up I planed on doing that gains me significant Infamy.

Everyone tells me that the Dark Brotherhood quests was really good but that just doesn't suit my good guy character. I'd kill or imprison all the Dark Brotherhood way before joining them.

Its pretty much the same problem I had with the idea of joining the Morag Tong in Morrowind. I don't care if you're guild is sanctioned by the local government, you are a group of fucking hitmen, fuck off.

Oddly enough, I've played all the Hitman games and beaten all but the first one. Then again I killed very few people through out those games. The only one I killed a decent number of people in is the last one thus far, Blood Money. Because the game seemed to indicate that Agent 47 had started to stop giving a shit.

Been playing Dark Souls, I was feeling pretty crappy about buying the game on pc after realising it was unplayable without a joypad and after seeing the framerate lock. But now I have my joypad and fixxed the framerate thanks to a simple mod made available online I'm having some of the best time gaming on my pc since forever.

This game once you find the willpower to work through the first few stages is just a joy to play. I spent days stuck on the first real boss which kept me rage quitting every few hours but now I cant get off it.

Goldenratio, how do you partner up with specific people? Is it just a matter of spamming your soul sign on the ground where a friend would be waiting or is their another method I dont know about?

What gift did you choose when making your character?

pendant, even before i read this:

Quote
In the run-up to the initial release of Dark Souls, Miyazaki recommended that players pick the Pendant as their starting gift at the beginning of the game. Since launch almost all the game's secrets have been revealed by the active user community, but true purpose of the Pendant remains obscure.

it just sounded cool.
(its basically for ""'roleplay"""")

i have below the system reqs (i have 2.53 core duo2 and ati radeon hd 4670) and it runs like butter. you should be fine for the most part if your graphics card has at least 1gb dedicated memory

that being said, the minimum system reqs are for blighttown..................a lot of people quit there anyway lol

EDIT: oh wait i just saw your grphics card.....yea idk about 256mb lol, ask around the dark souls steam forums to see if anyone else with that can run it smoothly

pretty sure the pendant is just a troll.

also I don't think I've expressed this before so I just want to hop aboard the dark souls train and say it's the best game I've played in years.  no question.

edit: basically I'm cosigning with goldenratio on this one.  everything he's been saying is correct.  I don't know if he's mentioned this specifically, but the game has a very interesting approach to narrative that I wish more games would pursue. the whole thing is great.  everybody play it.

YAY im glad people are playing and liking dark souls. I've actually been playing it alot with my brother again but on PS3 not PC. We made some Dex/Int hybrids, and I'm rolling with a Flamberge which is a pretty nice weapon I've never tried before. I started as a Wanderer and I've got my wanderer gear to +8/9 and a heater shield +11 which I'm gonna be sticking with. Classic Gear. But yeah we're planning on beating the game into NG+, then getting through the Lordvessel stuff and then waiting for the DLC to come out on consoles. I actually like this character a lot though.

not hatin yo it's a spectacular troll if it doesn't actually have a gameplay function other than roleplaying.  although if it does have some sort of super secret use that is also awesome.  when I was 11 or 12 I paid a lot of attention to the nonsense triforce hunt in Ocarina of Time and I always wished that a game would come out that had this SUPER SECRET that nobody discovered for years so if the pendant does have some secret use that would just make dark souls literally everything I have ever wanted in a video game.  but at the same time if it's just a roleplaying thing that the developers said people should pick pretty much for that reason that is also really cool.

You mean that monster before the graveyard well at first I was bit scared of it at one point but when I got closes it didn't attack me so I was good to go and talked to it also I more like accidentally hit some merchants and paying that much soul for forgiveness was out of the question since my grinding spot blocked by an angry merchant. So I had to kill him and put him 6 feet under.

no you know the guy who absolves you of your sins, in the building after the gargoyles. When you go up the ladders to ring the bell, after you come down he suddenly appears there. This guy: http://darksouls.wikidot.com/oswald-of-carim

No I was right my reading comprehension  is fine. I was told in my let's play of this from an outsiders that if I hit some one I can pay him and the NPC will forgive me. but it was too late I killed a really important black smith Andre of Astora because. I couldn't get behind him where my grinding spot is. So I had to cut him down since running by him was out of the opinion.

I can see some guys killing Kingseeker Frampt because he looks like something you don't want to get near. (also this is the guy I thought you where talking about at first.

No what I mean is that my first post was making a joke, that "probably 50% of people accidentally kill him" because he just pops up out of nowhere and startles people. I know why he exists, that has nothing to do with anything. Also you seem to be under the impression that my post was directed at you like "you killed this guy" and that wasn't what I was saying at all. The reason I say your comprehension is bad is because it's not even confusing, nothing indicated that I was saying something about you specifically. It's ok dday no judgements you know.

Also technically you can't kill Frampt. You can hit him once to wake him up and do that stuff, and if you keep attacking him he'll just do that thing where he says you aren't the chosen one and then leaves.
