I don't think Tactics is a prequel. As I said before, my memory is fuzzy, and I guess it does make sense that the beginning of Tactics story takes place before FO2, but they are so loosely related, its hard to really consider it a prequel, or even a sequel. Its just a game that happens to take place in the same world I guess(and has probably been ignored in the greater continuity of the series).
Yeah, this is pretty much how I remember it too, though it's been a really long time since I played it.

Even if it is a prequel the Fallout games are so standalone that it doesn't really matter anyway, the connections between the games are really more relegated to the backstory rather than work as some active sequence of events. Like one of the biggest examples I can think of as far as connections between the games go is that the NCR are the BIG DICK in California by the time you get to New Vegas, and they really only exist because you went around helping a bunch of otherwise hopeless farmers back in the first Fallout game. That's not the sort of thing that really matters when you're playing New Vegas, you're not missing out on anything critical by not knowing this, it just gives slightly more interesting context if you've been paying attention to the way all the sects of people function throughout the series.

Warped, play "the last of us" or "beyond two souls". The last of us is like a sci-fi cinematic esque game about a post apocalyptic future, really good. And the other is movie game like hard rain with a cast of big name actors, a pretty solid narrative, and interesting approach. I really liked it, def rent though.

Beyond two souls is a pov bio about a girl with a paranormal "entity" that has followed her around since birth. It's supposed to reinvision what you think about life after death or some shit. It didn't do that for me but was good. And both are very good (imo) conscious efforts at telling a good story.

Also I would def recommend for hundley if reading.

I want to play The Last of Us pretty badly but I don't have money to buy new games. I've got too many already that I need to play, I need a new PC, and I also want to save money for the purposes of making more money, that is what little money I have.

But definitely going to eventually play Last of Us. IDK so much about Beyond though, Indigo Phrophecy left a bad taste in my mouth and played 2 hours Heavy Rain before deciding it wasn't for me.

Finally started Dark Souls. Only 2 hours in and I only just beat the tutorial dungeon and died twice, only beat the boss because I had picked the fire bombs as my gift :P

Timing of attacking seems purposely built to be counter intuitive in order to force you to learn the unique attack patterns of the enemies (and your own) and have a steep learning curve and I specifically picked a 'speedier' build to see if I can get around the slow attack speeds I saw in other other peoples characters as a spectator. Apparently that is not the case.

lol suffice to say I'm bad at this game. I'll keep on trying though! I guess most people are bad at it at the beginning, but I'm notably terrible being that I've playing little to no action adventure games. Ultimately though if there is a way to reduce the delays in hitting and any stun effects I'm going to build my character around that. If not the going is going to be sloooow.

*searches a bit* seems attack speed is all weapon based and I have one of the fastest weapons already equipped though I've been using it one handed and using 2 hands speeds it up a bit but I wont get a shield for parrying :P

using a shield is a good way to make up for your mistakes since you can turtle a lot of attacks and "block stun" enemy attacks to then attack back. the fun in the stamina management comes from the shields imo until you're good enough to dodge attacks completely.

getting a lot of poise from armor allows you to attack even while getting hit, but you'll likely start to "fat roll" even with havel's ring.

i'd suggest not looking up guides though (the occasional hint is fine), it's more fun to not know what you're doing and it's like some sacred video game virginity or something.

While I definitely don't plan on going into study mode, me being shitty at the game and games like it may nessesitate frequent guide checking.

There's a guy I work with who spends a lot of time gathering data so he plays T.D. games on kongregate.

Had to restart Dark Souls with a new character. I just found myself not progressing much at all playing the Wanderer. I was hoping to zip around a lot and dodge shit but that isn't happening so I picked something with range, Sorcerer, and I am having a lot more fun. This allows me to whittle away at enemy health at range and then swap to a short sword when they are near death to finish them off. (Might as well save the 'ammo' since I only have 30 shots for any section and it doesn't seem like there is a way to refill without restarting a section)

The game has gotten more interesting (and less frustrating) since I now have a decent number of ways to take on a situation instead of "challenge them with my starting sword... and probably die."

These are a few games I've played mostly because of GOG sales.

Gemini Rue: I liked this one a lot. The plot twist was pretty well constructed. The puzzles were pretty easy but there were some really greatly designed ones. It gets an A.

The Witcher: I got it free from a GOG promo. Basically I can't get myself to like this game. It kind of seems like they put the worst elements of Fable and Neverwinter Nights together to make a rather bland experience. Also, I'm cool with the idea of being able to have sex in an open world game, but the way they present it (ridiculous cutscenes with hardcore porno sounds and then receiving a trading card for each lady) was pretty gross and made me feel kind of put off. I also just really don't care about Geralt at all.

The Cat Lady: This is a pretty fucking great game. Sure, it has its plot holes and at times it plays more like an interactive cutscene than a game, but the art direction is great, I genuinely liked the main characters, and the themes are pretty heavy and thought provoking. I recommend it.

Wasteland: I haven't gotten too far in this yet, but I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want to keep playing it. I'm a huge Fallout freak and I play through at least one of them annually, but while I can see this game's influence it really hasn't aged well. The mechanics are pretty ahead of its time, but the execution is kind of shitty. Also, the scenario design is just kind of weird (Find hidden cave, kill rabid dog, get attacked by savage children which causes the river to dry up and The Red Ryder to come and attack you for some reason.) I'll mess around with it a little more, but I probably won't play through it all the way.

Ahaha I can see how say, a 14 yea old who can make games would make this kind of things but to think that a studio of people made this is hilarious. Can you imagine the design by committee meetings? I'm not against the idea of being able to copulate in games (sex is less offensive than gore, realistically?) but the mentality is comical. It's almost exactly James Bond. This is what you must aspire to be, a banger of many women and a slayer of the others. Austin Powers has been dragged through space-time to the 16th century England to find women to fall on his sword: you must save him from the onset of syphilis, and ultimately, himself.

I just started Ackk Studios flagship Two Brothers and have had a pretty good time so far (despite their releasing patch after patch to eliminate bug after bug).

Recently played a decent amount of Terraria for the first time. Pretty great. I know people think it looks like a 2D Minecraft but it certainly doesn't play like it. It's combat is its strong suit, something Minecraft has not done much to make interesting.

yeah it kinda made more sense to me that Geralt would be more of a loser and a creep since Witchers were people to stay away from. but instead women are basically drawn to the character for no reason. I can understand the occasional hooker or evil cultish vampire lady, but the writer leads me to believe that even a nun would be all over him. I do like the aesthetic of the dark fantasy stuff though, it feels very east euro in nature but yeah the main character is nothing but a sidequest carrier pidgeon with convenient amnesia.

I am looking forward to Drakengard 3 actually out of curiosity. because it apparently has a female protagonist with a harem of men. it'd be interesting to see how it turns out even if its good or bad. though really i am just in it for the overly emotional/angsty cutscenes that series is known for.

I have not played Witcher games but I wonder if they are playing on the sexual allure of 'badness' :P Being 'taboo' can make one attractive.

That can be a thing but it makes it seem like that's all any woman in the game world wants. I think I am just more bothered by the "harem" aspect of things too. Because sure taboo nature can be a hook, but not a thing that defines an entire character.

Eh. Yeah. Sounds like lazy writing. I still want to play them though... eventually... *looks at backlog again* hopefully before I'm too old to hold a controller/mouse steady.

I installed this last night. I bought it (And Witcher 2) in the GoG.com sale last Christmas, yet this is the first I've thought "OK, 12GB INSTALL, SURE" and gone for it. Sadly I only saw the intro and picked up a sword/killed some dudes, but I'm feeling POSITIVE AND EXCITED maybes?!
Hey hey hey
