Holy crap those last few levels in Psychonauts were fucking hard. Anyway. Beat it. Pretty good. As far as I can tell after a bit of research, There is no Psychonauts 2 in development. Which is a bummer, since double fine's only other game, Brutal Legend doesn't interest me much at all.

Brutal Legend was fun if you could get into the RTS part. I thought the main story was well thought out and the gameplay does a good job of keepin it fresh.

I've been playing Jade Empire and the combat isn't as deep as I thought it was but still a pretty fun game, a game that really deserved a sequel but I think that's now out of the question.

Started up Kane and Lynch: Dead Men (it was randomly selected)

I had tried the game before in demo form on the 360. I hated it. Since it came in the Eidos Pack I bought on steam, decided I'd give it another shot.

Playing on "morphine" difficulty (hard) and played the first 3 missions. I find myself not hating it nearly as much. In fact its actually a decent shooter on the PC. Only 2 issues: You can't reload on your own, the computer has to automatically do it for you which I find to to be fucking retarded. And it seems to be kind of poorly optimized as the frame rate dips for about a split second periodically.

Other than these issues, its an OK game thus far, but I haven't really gotten far enough to determine if it really like it or not.

I also played a little Descent 2 while I waited for it to DL.

I bought a fight stick today so in theory I should be playing SFIV for the first time in a while.

In practice I'll probably just be playing MAME roms.

I'm playing jade empire too, I guess because everyone's talking about it itt and because I liked some of bioware's earlier games. the dialogue and cutscenes can get pretty awful and the combat is boring, but I'm still entertained enough by other aspects of the game eg level design to keep playing.
also yeah all the playable characters look like dingbats. I chose lu the prodigy because he's got a huge head, wide body and little spindly arms, but he really really stinks.

I also recently got Contract J.A.C.K. because it's part of the NOLF series and I'd been wanting to play it for a while. it isn't good. it's kinda like NOLF without the hidden intel items and stealth and most of the cool locations and good dialogue. you're pretty much just walking around and shooting people, and that's not really fun. I figured maybe this game was just a test of the NOLF 2 engine but it actually came out a year after NOLF 2 as an interquel. if you like NOLF I suppose it's worth playing, but save it for the end instead of playing the games in chronological order

Beat Kane and Lynch... already. Only 4-5 hours of gameplay there. Oh well, hopefully its sequel will be better made and be longer.

Is this 4-5 hours of gameplay worth £8? I saw it in the shop and was thinking of buying it.

IDK. It'd gameplay at its core isn't terrible (at least on the PC). But there are a few/bunch of little flaws with it. and the game had a few graphical glitches (only like 2 gave my any trouble, and it might just be my rig or OS)

Guns have a tendency to be inaccurate (if you've played IO Interactive's Freedom Fighters you know what I'm talking about), as I've said before, reloading is controlled by the computer but luckily that pretty much never got in the way as almost all the weapons reload pretty quickly. Cover system can be a tad iffy at times.

Otherwise it's got all the parts of a decent 3rd person shooter, wide selection of weapons and environments, there is sprint, right click to aim, squad commands like attack, defend and regroup. etc. etc. Probably one of the bigger pluses is that it does a pretty good job of changing up the gameplay and objectives. They in most cases can be simplified to "shoot people" of course.

Story is crime drama with pretty messed up levels of depravity. This depravity being something done commonly in other games like GTA. but this game is all serious so it hits you a little harder.

I have yet to try its multiplayer. It actually sounds pretty cool but I have a sneaking suspicion that online is probably dead for this game by now. I also know it has Co-Op. but I have not tried it.

Also, I converted £8 to roughly 12.33 USD using google. I wouldn't pay that much for it because I generally get little spending money and I got this game with the Eidos Pack when it was on sale on Steam. If you are looking for some new shooting material and have a decent paying job its not a terrible purchase. but its not a great one either.  So yeah, depends. but probably not worth it unless you are an avid shooter player or have excess cash to spend. It doesn't deserve the low scores it got from critics. but with so many other shooters out there that do the same and in most cases do it better the game comes hard to recommend.

Anyways, I'm Going to be starting the Original Far Cry in a bit. I've already played Instincts. I've heard that they are pretty different from each other. They mainly just have vaguely the same story.

Yeah it is in the Eidos pack (as are all of of the Hitman games except the third title in the series) but I'm going to play the first 3 before I start that game.

Also since I've started up Far Cry already I'm going to beat it first.

@warpped655: Alright, thanks for your input, I was thinking of getting it for the xbox 360 but I guess I'll just not bother now.

I'm currently playing Mercenaries World in Flames, I bought it for like £3 in my local Cex store. I'm loving it so far!

TBH alert fuckups and generally archaic gameplay may make you hate the older ones. If this does happen, don't lose hope. Play Blood Money, it is amazing (I think the others are too, but the concensus from others isn't so bright)

Don't worry. I wont give up on the series if I hate the early ones.

I didn't exactly love the small amount that I played of the first system shock. that didn't stop me from playing the sequel.

Anyway. Far Cry is pretty fun thus far (lol)... but I hate the checkpoint enforced save system and it seems to be impossible to stealth kill anyone unless they are right next to a bush or you have a silenced weapon. Even prone in bushes they immediately hear you and turn in your direction if you are within 3 meters of them. Sneaking past enemies is also pretty much impossible as they can spot you from pretty far away even when prone in tall grass.

Shooting mechanics are well done though, and the guns are fun to shoot. For an old game its pretty good looking to.

The person you play as is retarded though. (you play as Jack Carver) here are some gems:

"Stand by he says, that's rich." (in response to Doyle)

Doyle: You do know how to fly a glider, right?
Jack: No, but I learn real fast when people are shootin' at me. (They way he said it was just... awful)

Doyle: You'll need to use a demo charge.
Jack: Oh, good thing I remembered to pack a few of those.
Doyle: Don't be difficult.

Agh I guess its one of those things you need to hear for yourself. Really terrible voice acting is probably the bigger issue. They just aren't very convincing. The voice acting in Far Cry: Instincts is MILES better.

My favorite part of Far Cry is on the hardest difficulty the enemies at the end of the game take more than a clip from an automatic shotgun straight to the face to kill.
Admiral Robert E Lee: From an alternate reality in which the United States is an archipelago and the Civil War is fought at sea.
