I just got a new laptop and can finally play Fallout3 among the other members of this recent generation of PC games.

So I'm most likely going to be playing Fallout3 for a good long while. It'll give me time to think about what other recently released PC games I might want to play.

Or I'll just spend that time thinking about playing more Fallout. I'll probably snatch up that new Fallout as soon as I finish messing around with this one.

Almost done with Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. It got significantly better when I didn't have to use melee weapons to kill everything. Melee in this game isn't that great.

There seems to be a lack of variety when it comes to guns though. The "water gun" and the flare gun don't do any damage. They are completely useless. The scope for the Mosin-nagant is pointless in such confined spaces. My weapon selection boils down to this: a Bolt Action rifle (Mosin-Nagant), Semi-Automatic Rifle (Tokarev SVT-40), and the SMG (PPsh-41). That is it. according to the list of weapons in the control page, that is all I get. This game could really use a shotgun and pistol at least. Oh well. At least this game lets me look down the sights.

Finally bought Puzzle Quest 2! Should be good fun for when waiting for something to happen.

edit: Wish it was on OS X too so I could play it on the go. :(

mod it. replace the character models, put on fellout and summer, so you get a green lush realistic post-nuclear forested landscape (if your laptop can handle it). I also replaced all the monsters with STALKER ones (they look much better than fallout's comicy ones) and turned it into a zombie wasteland.
wish i had my pc with me now :( but it's like i have x-box only here, need to get goty edition. Love fallout3 (just its better if you ignore some of the dumb quests)

Also the stalker soundtrack is so much better than fo3's one, so I added that. the game becomes so much more atmospheric.

Just picked up Valkyria Chronicles the other day, liking it a lot so far. On a side note, Ive heard some mixed opinions about Assassins Creed, are either of the two PS3 titles worth picking up before AC:Brotherhood comes out or should I just read up on the story and forget about the games.

The first Assassin's Creed wasn't that good but I have heard great things about the second one, apparently it's a lot better. Haven't played it myself though.

And Valkyria Chronicles is the most overlooked game of this whole generation p.much. One of the best games to come out in recent years.

Cryostasis was actually pretty good in the end. You just have to be willing to trudge through the boring first half of the game.

yeah they have plots and w/e but they're self contained, they don't have much to do with each other.  definitely gr8 games though, the newer wii one (new blood? is that what it's called?) is the better one, because it has co-op which is really fun
yeah, co-op is a blast in that game

Well. I'm playing Hitman: Codename 47. I remember someone here saying that the older Hitman games (Games? so Maybe I should assume 2 is this way as well?) had kind of bad gameplay elements.

Well. I figured I'd be able to get over/tolerate them. Like how I did with a lot of really low scoring games. But this game really is hard to play and enjoy for me.

The Main problem is that In this first one almost all of the missions only give you a faint idea of what you are supposed to be doing and why, as well as what order. It gives you VERY little information. and there is almost always only 1 real way to beat each mission effectively. Making it a game of trial and error. It's nearly impossible to get any of them right the first time without the use of Gamefaqs. or hell, get them done at all in my case.

The gun control is is fine. If not above average considering when it came out. Unfortunately, getting into combat usually means you are doing it wrong and you'll be quickly overwhelmed that way.

The AI is OK. but in some cases they'll react when they shouldn't. Like, they will identify that I have a weapon on me even if I actually don't when in disguise trying to enter some restaurant.

Since I bought the others I'm definitely giving them all a shot. and I'll probably beat this one anyway. But yeah, even for me and my ability to tolerate mediocre games. This one is a tough game to swallow.

i know what you mean. i couldn't get through the first one either. i tried playing it like a year or two ago and just couldn't bring myself to devote much time to it. it's really raw and the level design is really flat and empty. kinda par for the course as far as most 3d games went back then, though. the game is significant purely for the fact that it endeavored to do different things, not the execution of it.

but it is just that one, really. the technical jump between the first and second is enormous. i don't recall needing to use gamefaqs at all for the second one, and apart from a slightly screwy AI, it's a pretty solid game.

Hitman 2 and Contracts are a great laugh. I'm not sure if they stand the test of time though.

N64 one is easily the best one. Interesting to hear that there is another decent one? I'll have to look in to this.

Yeah after the billionth time of retrying "The Assassination of Lee Hong" Mission. I'm done. I'm not enjoy the game and its eating away at my time, time that could be spent playing a better game. Plus I heard that contracts has some of the level from this game remade. So maybe they will be enjoyable in that.

So yeah I think I'll just Youtube the cutscenes... what a waste... of my money and time.
