I'm the type that likes to explore so I feel like I need hacking skills. but hacking skills seem to be one of the more overall expensive skill sets. Kind of irritating. Concerned I'm going to get my ass kicked in a boss fight if I don't level some combat augs.

Been trying out Battle for Graxia on Steam, the lol clone. Plays well although the queing times are 10+mins per game, which is slowly driving me away. Was thinking about Dota2 but still on the hunt for a key.

After making that last post I recieved an invitation from steam after the dota 2 questionnaire I completed like 2 weeks previous. Tried the game but with no tutorial available I got destroyed in my first match and like everything else in my life, I quit it.

Might try it again later though.

also thx for offering.

Playing Dark Chronicle. Got an item called "Carrot" with the description "when given as food, it will change the gender". Was disappointed to discover that it only works on fish.

I couldn't find Rogue Galaxy. I got Dragon Quest VIII coming in the mail at some point though. Dark Chronicle is definitely one of the most bizarre games I have played. I think it's a bit too time consuming for the good moments, but I enjoy the fact that the plot makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Fifteen year old super rich urban planners with a monopoly on time travel reconfiguring the entire human population of the world in their builder-helicopter with a face run by grape-juice loving gnomes by the guidance of magic glowing magma eggs to change the future using resources they farmed from the dungeon. It's not something I could make up. From doing backflips to kill clowns with a wrench to your dad telling you that it's time you learned about mining and then giving you a gun that's also a trumpet and asking you to level grind it into gun that's also a bell. Doing trivial favours for people convinces them to move into your train permanently and live wherever you tell them to in your grand world plan. The world's greatest medical expert (also a duck) abandons the largest urban centre to treat one person. Dark chronicle easily has the most preposterous storyline of any game I have played.

Agreed but I'm sure there is worse story telling  in some other game most that never make it out side of japan.

Is it awesome? I really want it when it comes out here in NZ but I gotta pick and choose my games carefully since I'm short on money.

I saw like 2 minutes of gameplay, and the graphics/animation looks super nice. I don't know if I could really play an old-school JRPG like that, even though I definitely support the idea. It's probably a game that I'll pick up in a couple years, when it's cheap.

Also I have FF8 on my PS3 right now, and I really want to play FF9... I'm thinking of maybe just emulating that one though... I started a playthrough like a year ago, and I was grinding a ton and collecting everything and doing all the side stuff, and it froze right on the third disc or something. So I was like "man I'm not gonna play this shit for a long time". But now I want to.

Also I still play dark souls. I play it off and on, but I like picking totally different armor/weapon sets and stuff, just making totally different characters. It's fun. Can't wait for Dark Souls 2. But I hope they change the name.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

I'm only 5-6 hours into Ni No Kuni so I'm sure I'll post more about it in the future but my thoughts so far:

Soundtrack was done by Tokyo philharmonic orchestra and it is fucking amazing. Your fairy sidekick Drippy has a welsh accent and it's awesome, so far all the english voice acting has been really good and this is one of the few games where I haven't found myself mashing x though all the dialogue because of terrible voice work.

Combat has been fun but it takes awhile to take off, a review or two have compared it to the 20 hour tutorial march that plagued FF13 but it isn't that slow at all. Everyone will say it's a mix between pokemon and ff12 which pretty much right on the money but I haven't gotten to the point where you start collecting the monsters (familiars). Level 5 JRPG so it is going to be grindy as fuck so we will see how I feel about this as the game progresses. So far I've done a lot of exploring so I've been a decent level for encounters.

The graphics are very pretty and there has been a few points where I've sat in awe looking around and taking in the beauty of it all. Probably one of the best looking overworlds in a game ever. If you've seen a Ghibli film I won't need to tell you that the animated cut scenes are really good too.

And the story is there, and it's nothing you haven't seen before. It's going to take lot of charm from the characters to keep me interested but so far it's looking good. Overall.... I like it so far! I've been waiting for this game forever and while I'm not going into it thinking it's going to be the messiah of video games I do have high expectations and I'm hoping it lives up to them.

I played through ff9 like last year I think? You are going to want a fast forward button the random encounters get very very bad. It's been awhile since I played any final fantasy besides that one but I think ff9 has to have the worst (highest) random encounter rate.
