So I bought a copy of PC Gamer today at the grocery store and guess what's on the demo disc?  Full copies of Chex Quest 1, 2, & 3.

I've not installed it yet, but yeah that's what the disc says.  Should be interesting.  It is just a weird coincidence that we were JUST talking about this!

I don't think I have(or at least can't recall) playing any games that were too weird; as in an really abstract, surreal-ish games. But, I do remember playing a game for the N64(and I don't think it's too uncommon around here, so you might have played it) called Mischief Makers. You basically play as an android-ish green haired girl named Marina(most of the game). In the beginning, your creator and master, Professor Theo, is kidnapped by an empire and you embarq on a lovely little quest to save him. The game takes place on the planet Clancer(sounds an awfully lot like Cancer, lol), where pretty much everything has the same weird face, living or otherwise inanimate. The game spans a multitude of environments, each with their own interesting atmosphere, with a myriad of varying scenarios along the way. It's not really the type of game that's easy for me explain, so hopefully you'll play it if you haven't already, and enjoy it. It's personally one of my favorite platform games of all time.

I realized that that Carmen Sandiego game is Carmen Sandiego WORD Detective and not World Detective so screw it I'm not bothering with playing it anymore.  I kind of want to just install the Bible now!

Takeshi no Chosenjo is probably one of the weirdest you'll find out there.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Completion of the game requires several unorthodox uses of the Famicom system, such as using the second controller microphone to speak while playing pachinko, or not touching the controls for 60 minutes. The player must also maneuver a hang-glider to complete a side-scrolling shooting game, made extremely difficult because the controls do not allow the player to move upwards on the screen. Minor details such as not quitting the salaryman job, not getting a divorce, or not beating up the old man who provides the treasure map, can prevent the player from reaching the ending.
One event requires the player to use the second controller's microphone to sing a verse of karaoke. The player must receive a good rating in order to continue

Here's a video of a guy trying to beat it:

Monster Party

Cho Aniki (both are DISTURBING and weird though)

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panic!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vib-Ribbon

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incredible_Crisis

really there's LOTS of weird games but I think a lot end up weird because of the translation

Edit: I guess Panic! is nearly impossible to beat if you're playing a real copy, because it's like a Choose Your Own Adventure book where you can't flip back/put your finger on certain pages to keep the page. But on an emulator with savestates you can probably beat it in 5 minutes

Edit: Sorry if I made it unclear, if you choose the wrong door in this game I think it's GAME OVER return to title screen - that and the last level of Ninja Gaiden fukin bastards

Edit: I think some outcomes were just random luck too, not even memorizing so you couldn't even map the game out

One of the best Gamecenter CX moments was Arino trying to do the karaoke parts to Takeshi.  That and he failed the leave-it-alone-for-an-hour part because he went HUH I WONDER WHAT HAPPENS IF I PUSH A BUTTON.

I had a demo disc for the 3DO with Ballz on it, I thought it was really cool.

yeah. there are some really cool stories about takeshi no chousenjou. takeshi actually told them what he wanted in the game and they did it pretty much to the t. he was also drunk a lot of the time too. so here was some drunk comedian who doesn't play games or know anything about them designing one. i think that's awesome. i want to get someone who knows nothing about games and just do whatever he tells me to do.

I guess the weirdest game I've played in terms of controls was Lifeline for the ps2.  You tell a woman what to do using a microphone and try to keep her alive.  You could tell her to take off her clothes, but then she'd get mad.

But the weirdest game ever for me was Quarantine.  It was this old game where you drive a taxi around in a screwed up city.  Sometimes you'd get a terrorist and if you didn't get to his destination in time, the bomb he's carrying would detonate.  It was really violent, but you got an entire city to explore.  I'd like to play it again to see what it was like.
