You know, most "Introduce Yourself" threads seem to have a very friendly, informative, aura about them on other sites. But, why on this site does it feel like a massive joke?

because introducing yourself isn't really necessary because it's dumb and superficial "omg like i make games and listen to music how interesting am i!!!" shit
what people are supposed to do is just start posting and eventually the personality will be built up instead of trying to dump it all in one post in the best sounding way possible.

i think the only reason to have it is that some people find it so necessary to introduce themselves despite it being entirely useless, and so having the thread cuts down on the number of people who would have made an entire thread welcoming themselves to the forum
