yeah so I found this old Calvin and Hobbes collection from when I was younger and I remembered this whole storyline where Calvin ran away from home and was trying to get to the Yukon but then he got hungry and came home or something, but then he realizes Hobbes is gone and so on... so the way I remembered it I thought the story went on for pages and pages, but it turns out it only lasts 4 pages, which is like not very much. 12 3/4 panel strips I think

only thing that's as long (time-wise) as I remember from when I was a kid is Dragon Warrior. I wish somebody would hack all the games to have a game timer like in Final Fantasy, because I remember 7 lasted like 200 hours or something ridiculous. Things also seemed taller when I was young. Haha sounds stupid without an example so like at the video store it felt like there were shelves after shelves of videos stacked to infinity but in reality it was probably like 10 videotapes. Also movies felt like this epic amount of time like if I had aspirations of being a movie director back then I had no idea how I would be able to film enough for AN ENTIRE LIFETIME because that's how long a movie felt

The Calvin and Hobbes thing really surprised me though because when you explain the story it sounds like it would take longer to resolve the story. I guess same thing with cartoons, probably a Simpsons Treehouse of Horror is 5 minutes long with all the commercials and somehow they manage to have a beginning middle and end and maybe a few other scenes. How the hell is there time to take in anything like no way I should know the simpson house has carrot designs on their curtains. Or is it corncobs

and yeah that was the one scientific sort of provable one that maybe things really do feel longer because relatively it is, I still think the Calvin and Hobbes thing was dumb though. Then again I probably thought Final Fantasy 2 was War and Peace as far as the script. In actuality it's probably 5 lines of dialogue. Again this is probably relative like 'you had only read so much in your lifetime so it was a lot to read at the time' but I can't believe I forgot the Calvin and Hobbes was only 4 pages, that's most spatial or whatever, I think I knew at the time that 4 pages isn't a lot of pages

Calvin and Hobbes is the shit, and every single day I am glad that I read through and noticed those mutli-strip story arcs long long before I even knew what a "webcomic" was. I try to keep track of the books I had of that stuff since it's one of my all time favorite comics. Those stories do seem to end a lot quicker than I remember.

I really really want to get that box set that has every single comic in chronological order, but have yet to find the right combination of opportunity and extra cash to actually make it happen.
